Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Matthew.
Hi Dawn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began teaching yoga about seven years ago, I actually became certified while I was pregnant with my daughter. It was the funniest thing because I attended a 200 hour training program at an ashram. And during that time, I told myself you have to finish this program pregnant and all because this will make a way for you and your child. The following year in 2020 I began formally studying herbalism through a few programs, end during the pandemic, I began creating delicious herbal teas, doing meal prep for new families, and teaching free community yoga classes at a park that would allow for social distancing. There were so many needs that I saw within the community during this time and I was excited to nurture it.
My family and I now homestead about an hour from Dallas, and educate families on communal sustainability. I’m currently facilitating classes virtually, trainings virtually and imperson, and creating content around wellness, family, and homesteading.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The greatest struggle has been me getting out of my own way. For a long time I danced in between the lines of 100% self belief and enthusiasm about my purpose and calling. And on the other hand, I was believing that I would always need something else as an anchor to provide a sustainable life for my family, and I I did not initially see the full vision that God was giving me that wellness, and educating people about our wellness would not only sustain me, but allow my family to have all they need and more. After much self reflection, a revelation came over me and I surrendered happily to the process. But the most difficult part of this has been not believing in myself, and struggling with imposter syndrome. In 2023 my family endured several great losses, and not only the losses, but my twins were hospitalized several times for congenial hypothyroidism, I almost lost one. And after that, the trauma made me feel frozen, and stuck. Even now three years later, there are things I can’t quite name or speak about without getting emotional. But we have made it through, and there’s so much promise right where we are and where we’re going. God is good!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the founder of Saint Goodness, a holistic wellness company rooted in yoga therapy, herbalism, and earth centered living. My work focuses on supporting individuals and families in returning to themselves through intentional practices that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.
I specialize in yoga therapy, sound healing, herbal tea formulation, doula care and creating spaces for healing through community experiences. Whether I am guiding a session, preparing herbal blends, or hosting workshops, everything I offer is designed to help people slow down, reconnect, and feel supported in their healing journey.
I am known for creating experiences that are both grounding and transformative. There is a level of care, presence, and intention in my work that people can feel. I do not just offer services, I create environments where people can exhale, feel seen, and begin to restore themselves in a real way.
What I am most proud of is building something that is deeply aligned with my purpose while also caring for my family and community. Saint Goodness was born from my own life, from my kitchen, my studies, and my lived experiences, and it has grown into something that serves others in a meaningful way. Being able to live, work, and raise my children in alignment with my values is something I hold with great gratitude. I’ve recently launched my Yoga Alliance Approved continuing education program and intended to continue expanding my training program to send healers out into the world.
What sets me apart is that my work is truly lived. I am not offering something that exists only in theory. I practice what I share every day through how I care for my home, how I raise my children, and how I move through the world. My approach is intuitive, Spirit led, and deeply rooted in both tradition and lived experience.
At the heart of it all, I am here to remind people that healing does not have to be complicated. It can be found in simple, intentional moments, in a cup of tea, in a breath, in community, and in returning to what is natural and true.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think it really depends on where you meet me and what hat I’m wearing. It’s so funny because day-to-day I’m very silly, and I love joking around, and I use laughter as a healing method when working with clients and training students. But I’m very silly, in love karaoke, and things like that. So it’s always funny when people that have met me under the umbrella of, yoga, and meditation see me out in the wild. It always seems to tickle the good folks. I also love to paint, it’s something that I started in 2020 I truly enjoy it and it seems to always catch people by surprise. Other than that, I think everything else makes quite a bit of sense to people when they find out other things about me.
