Today we’d like to introduce you to Renee Ehlers.
Renee, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always known I was meant to be in the wedding industry. When I first went to college, my goal was simple: become a wedding planner. But early on, I realized that if I truly wanted to build something meaningful, I needed to understand how to run a business first. That realization led me into the world of marketing, where I spent years working across multiple corporate roles and industries—learning everything from client experience to brand strategy and what it really takes to build something from the ground up.
Even while growing in my career, I always found myself coming back to what I loved most: the event planning process. The creativity, the details, and the way a space can be completely transformed into something unforgettable.
A few years ago, I decided to start small. I launched my planning business focusing on birthdays, bachelorettes, and intimate events. Then in 2025, I was given the opportunity by Grace Manor Events to step into the wedding industry, and I took a leap of faith.
And the Lord did not disappoint.
In my very first year of Made New Planning, I booked over eight weddings along with multiple other events. What started as a small step has quickly grown into something far beyond what I imagined—we now serve nearly 20 clients and building a team of incredible lead coordinators who will support our month-of coordination projects. This growth has allowed me to start stepping into what I love most: partial and full-service planning and design.
None of this would be possible without my faith and trust in Jesus, my husband Rafe’s constant encouragement, and the support of my friends and family.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In addition to being a business owner, I’m also a wife and a mom of two—my 1-year-old and 3-year-old. Balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship hasn’t always been easy, especially as Made New began to grow so quickly. There have been seasons that felt overwhelming, but I’ve leaned on the Lord through it all and found my rhythm along the way.

We take on a limited number of weddings to ensure every client receives a high-touch, personalized experience. From full-service planning and design to thoughtfully curated wedding weekends—including bachelorette parties, welcome events, and rehearsal dinners—we’re involved in every detail from start to finish.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t believe in luck. Jesus has blessed me and this business at every step and I owe it all to Him.
