Life & Work with Lesly Barnette of Dallas, Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesly Barnette.

Hi Lesly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised by a single mother who worked two to three jobs at a time. Watching her navigate life with that kind of grit shaped everything about who I am. I grew up as a dyslexic kid — but my mom made sure that was never something I let define me. Still, I got underestimated a lot. And honestly? That’s exactly what built my resilience. I had to work harder to prove myself, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about that.
Life is a roller coaster. The secret isn’t avoiding the drops — it’s being willing to embrace them. When you stop fighting the ups and downs and start moving with them, you realize you have the power to make anything a reality. Any dream, any vision — it just takes hard work, determination, and consistency.
Today, I’m the Founder and Creative Director of my own private brand operating firm, where we operate and manage multiple six and seven-figure brands. I built this space intentionally — so I could fully show up as my most creative self, on my own terms. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t believe there’s such a thing as a smooth ride — not when you’re building a business and a life with big goals. Big dreams come with big challenges. That’s just the deal.
I was always taught that when a challenge stands in front of you, you don’t go around it — you go through it. You have to be willing to embrace the turbulence. Like a storm: when it hits, you have to be willing to sit through it, because it won’t last forever. And there is always a rainbow on the other side.
Honestly, the rough road has been one of my greatest teachers. The obstacles, the hard seasons, the moments that tested me — they didn’t just build my business, they built me. They forced me to discover things about myself that I never would have uncovered on a smooth, easy path. And those discoveries? They’ve been some of the most crucial parts of my journey — in business and in life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As the Founder and Creative Director of my firm, my work lives at the intersection of strategy and creativity — and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This role allows me to fully immerse myself in what I do best: lead with vision.
My specialty is seeing what isn’t there yet. I have a natural eye for creativity, and what I’m known for is the ability to take something from nothing — a concept, an idea, a feeling — and build it into a recognizable, revenue-generating brand. We’re talking six and seven-figure brands, built from the ground up.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to show up as my most creative self no matter what’s happening around me. Even when a partner comes to me with no clear direction — no vision, no words for what they want — I can find it. I can feel it, shape it, and bring it to life in a way that feels completely authentic to them.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just execute — I create. There’s a difference between someone who can follow a creative brief and someone who can write one from thin air. That’s my gift, and it’s what I’ve built my entire firm around.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What’s next for me is simply more — more brands, more impact, more proof that what I’ve built is just getting started. I am expanding the loveandmgmt portfolio, scaling the brands we operate, and stepping further into my own personal brand in a way that finally reflects the full picture of who I am.
People have seen pieces of me — the strategist, the operator, the creative. What’s coming is all of it, at once, unapologetically. I am a founder, a creative director, a brand builder, a DJ, a producer, and a visionary — and I’m done keeping those worlds separate.
I built the mothership. Now it’s time to show people just how far it flies.
My message to anyone watching: don’t wait for permission to take up space. Build the room. Fill it. And then build a bigger one.
