Community Highlights: Meet Destiney Gillespie of Godly Girl Collective Corporation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiney Gillespie.

Hi Destiney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with Godly Girl Collective really began from a place of personal transformation. I was at a point in my life where I knew I needed more of God, but I also realized how difficult it can be for women, especially young women, to find a genuine, Christ-centered community that feels both safe and real. I started picking up my Bible consistently in 2024 after years of feeling intimidated by it, and that decision changed everything for me.

What started as a personal pursuit quickly turned into a burden for other women. I began creating devotionals, hosting conversations, and building spaces where women could grow in their faith without judgment. That’s how Godly Girl Collective was born, a community focused on helping women understand who they are in Christ, build authentic sisterhood, and walk boldly in their purpose.

Since then, it has grown beyond what I could have imagined. We’ve launched small groups, outreach initiatives, and Bible studies, and we’ve been able to serve communities in tangible ways, including feeding the less fortunate and creating safe spaces for women to encounter God. We’ve also expanded into digital spaces through content, teachings, and our university platform.

Relocating from Indianapolis to the Dallas–Fort Worth area is a part of that next step of growth. It’s about expanding the vision, reaching more women, and planting what God has given us in new ground. I truly believe this move isn’t just about location, it’s about assignment. And we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but it’s been a purposeful one.

One of the biggest challenges has been building something from the ground up while still growing personally in my own faith. There were moments where I felt unqualified, overwhelmed, or unsure if I was doing things “right.” Starting a faith-based organization also comes with unique pressures; you’re not just building a brand; you’re stewarding something that represents God and carries weight.

Another challenge has been consistency and capacity. Balancing seminary school, motherhood, ministry, and life while expanding the vision hasn’t always been easy. There were seasons when things were quiet, when engagement wasn’t where I wanted it to be, or when I questioned whether people were truly being impacted. On top of that, building a team, establishing structure, and navigating the business side of a nonprofit have required significant learning on the fly.
Relocating to a new city has also been a step of faith. Leaving what’s familiar, community, connections, and what we’ve already built in Indianapolis, hasn’t been easy. But I’ve learned that growth often requires movement, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Through it all, the biggest lesson has been trusting God beyond what I can see. Every challenge has strengthened my faith, clarified the vision, and reminded me that this isn’t something I’m building alone.

As you know, we’re big fans of Godly Girl Collective Corporation. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Godly Girl Collective is a faith-based community and organization designed to help women grow in their relationship with God while building genuine, life-giving sisterhood. At our core, we create safe, intentional spaces where women can be seen, heard, and grow spiritually, whether through small-group Bible studies, outreach initiatives, digital teachings, or community events.

We specialize in making the Word of God accessible and applicable. For many women, the Bible can feel intimidating or hard to understand, and we bridge that gap by breaking it down in a way that is practical, relatable, and rooted in truth. Through programs like Godly Girl University, devotionals, and our small-group model, we help women not only read the Word but also live it out in their everyday lives.

What sets us apart is our heart for both spiritual growth and community impact. We’re not just focused on teaching—we’re focused on transformation. That looks like feeding the homeless, providing resources to women in need, and creating spaces where women can experience the love of God both spiritually and tangibly. We believe faith should be lived out, not just talked about.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the authenticity and the culture we’ve built. Godly Girl Collective is not about perfection; it’s about growth. Women can come as they are and be challenged, encouraged, and equipped to become who God has called them to be. There’s a genuine sense of sisterhood that exists here, and that’s something you can’t manufacture.

What I want readers to know is that this is more than an organization; it’s a movement. Whether you’re new to your faith or have been walking with God for years, there is a place for you here. We are building something that empowers women to know their identity in Christ, walk confidently in their purpose, and impact the world around them.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I would say the most important quality for my success has been obedience.

There have been many moments where I didn’t have all the answers, the resources, or even the confidence, but I made a decision to move when God said move. Obedience has carried me through uncertainty, through transitions like relocating, and through building something I had never done before. It’s not always comfortable, and it doesn’t always make sense in the moment, but it keeps me aligned with God’s direction rather than my own limitations.

Alongside that, I would also say consistency in faith. Not perfection, but showing up, praying, seeking God, staying grounded in His Word even when things feel slow or unclear. That consistency has helped me stay anchored and continue moving forward, even in challenging seasons.

At the end of the day, I’ve learned that success isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about trusting God enough to take the next step and then the next one after that.
