Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosy L..
Hi Rosy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I wanted to become a singer-songwriter since I was little. Although as I grew older, my dream of becoming a singer-songwriter felt unreachable. I was convinced that my love for singing can only be a hobby. I made Youtube videos of me singing for fun. I pursued other career paths, but my desire to sing and perform only grew stronger. 2019 was when I decided to take my music seriously, released my first ever single in 2020, and started performing at small open mics. Now I cannot imagine my life without making music, and performing live.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and my main struggle is not being able to fully believe in myself. For the longest time, I lacked confidence in myself and my abilities. However, over the past few years, I have definitely learned to heal from my past and embrace myself for who I am. Once I started healing, self-love presents itself, and good things are flowing in and happening at its right time. I am thankful for the struggles because I wouldn’t be the person I am today without it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer-songwriter originally from Laos, but I am now based in Texas. I perform all around Texas as a solo Artist, or sometimes with a band. I write songs in hopes to bring people a sense of positivity, and to remind them that they are not alone in their healing journey. I have been told that my music helps them heal. I am most proud of my ability to keep going because I book and manage all my shows, and sometimes it can get hard to find more show opportunities for myself. However, I never give up, and I do my research every single day for new opportunities. I believe what sets me apart from others is my strong desire to advocate for mental health through music, and my love for researching.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for networking is just be kind, respectful, and treat others the way you want to be treated. Build genuine relationships with people in the community, and show up for their work. I know everyone including myself have our own busy schedules, but I do try to support other Artists and Businesses wherever and whenever I can. Also, I believe that whatever energy you put out to the world, you will receive the same energy. That is why I share positivity wherever I go, and have trust that the right people will find me.
