Inspiring Conversations with Valerie Gutierrez of Vmarie Beautique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Gutierrez.

Hi Valerie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started by looking into schools and trying to decide what part of the beauty industry I wanted to be in. I knew since I was little I wanted to be in the beauty industry and own my own business. When I found out about estheticians I instantly fell in love because of the science and anatomy that is needed to fully understand how to get to glowing healthy skin. When I was in school I started taking friends and neighbors to practice on and then slowly word of mouth was getting my business growing. I opened a suite and thankfully I’ve been blessed to create a safe, relaxing, comfortable, and result driven atmosphere.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting a business is not really smooth. It’s challenging but rewarding. If you want it you have to hustle for it and success will come. I’m a mom to 3 and a first responders wife so I had to make sure that I would have time to build my business on any free time I had. It’s also scary when you’re starting because you have to be willing to make the investment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is called Vmarie Beautique and I specialize in facials, scalp detox, body waxing, and body cavitation. I’m known for offering a relaxing place while reaching goals whether that be glowing skin, treating scalp concerns, aiding in losing inches, or starting your wax journey. I also have my own skin care line called VMB Skin that includes an SPF 35 that comes in a sheer tone (clear) as well as 4 tints. VMB Skin also has toner pads that help reduce pigmentation.
I love what I do and I always try and give back when I can because I’m a firm believer that if you can give just a little you’ll be blessed a whole lot.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I would say don’t be afraid to ask someone you look up to for advice while also being respectful. Find networking opportunities in different places and market for yourself all the time. What has worked well for me is putting myself out there every chance I get. Talking about my business to others, sharing my business cards, attending local events, collaborating with other small businesses, and being consistent.
