Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Semidey.
Hi Adriana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a first-generation Latina entrepreneur and the founder of Budget Bee Financial, where we provide bookkeeping, tax, tax planning, and CFO services.
My journey wasn’t one I necessarily planned. As a first-generation Latina, I spent over 13 years building a career in finance and never imagined I would one day become an entrepreneur. But throughout my career, I saw so many talented business owners struggling with their finances. They were passionate about their businesses but often felt overwhelmed by bookkeeping, taxes, and understanding their numbers.
At the same time, I was becoming a mother and wanted more flexibility and freedom in my life. I wanted to create something meaningful that allowed me to make an impact while also being present for my family. That combination of passion, opportunity, and purpose led me to start Budget Bee Financial.
When I first launched, I started from scratch. I spent hours each day doing outreach, building relationships, and introducing myself to potential clients. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me resilience and the value of consistency. Over time, those efforts turned into referrals, word-of-mouth growth, and a community of clients who trusted me with their businesses.
Today, Budget Bee Financial has grown into a multi-six-figure firm, and I’m proud of the impact we’ve made. Beyond helping clients stay compliant, we’ve helped business owners save thousands through strategic tax planning, gain confidence in their finances, and make smarter decisions for their businesses.
What I’m most proud of is that we’ve built a business centered around education and empowerment. My mission has always been to help entrepreneurs feel confident about their finances instead of intimidated by them.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs.
One of my biggest challenges has been balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood. There have been seasons, especially during tax season, where I’ve worked long hours while still trying to be fully present as a wife, and mom. Those seasons can be exhausting, and there were times when I questioned whether I could truly do it all.
What I’ve learned is that growth requires boundaries, systems, and support. I’ve had to let go of the idea that I need to do everything myself and instead focus on building a strong team and creating processes that allow the business to grow sustainably.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Budget Bee Financial?
Budget Bee Financial provides bookkeeping, tax preparation, tax planning, and CFO services, primarily for creatives and beauty professionals. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs move beyond simply keeping up with their finances and instead use their numbers as a tool for growth.
What sets us apart is our commitment to education. We believe financial literacy is one of the most powerful tools a business owner can have. Rather than just delivering reports or filing tax returns, we help our clients understand what their numbers mean and how they can use that information to make smarter business decisions.
We’re also highly proactive when it comes to tax planning. We’ve helped clients save thousands, and in many cases tens of thousands, of dollars through strategic planning and financial guidance. Seeing those results and the confidence it creates for our clients is incredibly rewarding.
As a first-generation Latina entrepreneur, I’m especially proud of building a brand centered around empowerment. Budget Bee Financial was created to make finances feel less intimidating and more accessible. I want our clients to feel supported, educated, and confident in their ability to build profitable, sustainable businesses.
What I want readers to know is that we’re more than a bookkeeping and tax firm. We’re a strategic partner for business owners who want clarity, confidence, and a plan for growth.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I don’t think of myself as someone who takes reckless risks, but I do believe that growth requires courage.
The biggest risk I ever took was leaving the security of a stable career in finance to start my own business. At the time, there were no guarantees. I had a family to support, responsibilities at home, and no certainty that the business would succeed. What I did know was that I believed in my skills, my mission, and my ability to create value for others.
Over the years, I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is really a series of calculated risks. Hiring team members, investing in growth, raising your prices, expanding your services, and putting yourself out there publicly all require a certain level of faith and confidence.
For me, risk isn’t about making impulsive decisions. It’s about being willing to bet on yourself even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life and business came from moments that felt uncomfortable at the time.
Looking back, I’ve realized that staying where you are can sometimes be a bigger risk than taking the leap. The willingness to step outside your comfort zone is often where the greatest growth happens.
