Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Brinkley.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I grew up in a musician’s home. Singing and playing instruments on stage since I was 5 years old. My parents exposed me to so many varieties of music. Everywhere from the Beatles, to AC/DC, to 90’s hip-hop for some reason… LOL. Literally everything you could imagine! As I grew up, I helped my dad lead worship at churches as well as performed in some school plays but I needed a job. My very first gig as a DJ was my cousin’s wedding when I was 16 (which as a side note, with me being in the Wedding industry now… what was she thinking to let some kid DJ her wedding?!?!).
Now to preface this, this gig should’ve been a train wreck, but it was an absolute blast and everything went perfect, even with me DJing off of two laptops and iTunes! I found a new love for DJing, However, I had no idea I could do this on a regular basis, let alone, make it a career. My mom always said, “You should put an ad on Craigslist,” but I couldn’t help but think that was a stupid idea, so I never did it. A few years later, my now Mother-In-Law introduced me to a high school friend of hers who had a DJ business here in the DFW area. Over the next few years, I worked with him and really learned everything I know now about doing an event.
After a while, I started working less and less at that company and God sent me a lifeline! William Ryan, with It’s Your Night Entertainment, and man has it been one of the greatest things for my family’s life. I originally was brought on to help build the Photo Booth division of IYN but was also given the amazing opportunity to DJ for the company and that is what I have been doing ever since. After about a year, William found out that I, as well as two other DJs at IYN (Danny Bolin and Joey Vanderveer), play live music. We developed this amazing idea to bring the best of both worlds to wedding entertainment, DJing and Live music.
People either go with a band or a DJ for their event, this way you get both! My wife, Taylor, and I are so amazingly grateful for the opportunity IYN has given to our little family (got a baby boy on the way!) to use my talents as a career, rather than just a hobby.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There weren’t many struggles per say, more of just constantly tweaking things here and there to find my DJing style. Lot’s of finding what makes me…. me. So many failed ideas at weddings (that I thought were going to be revolutionary… LOL) to make into the polished DJ style I have today!
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about It’s Your Night Entertaiment – what should we know?
It’s Your Night Entertainment is an Event company that specializes in DJs, Lighting, Photo Booths, and Live Music. As for me, I do a lot. I am a graphic designer, so I handle all of the web design, graphics work, etc for the company as well as I am a DJ/Live Musician. I think as a company we are most proud of… well… everything. We carefully put a lot of thought into each event to literally make every event the best it can be.
The whole team has this Quality over Quantity concept. We don’t focus on getting X amount of gigs, we focus on the quality or “WOW” factor of each event. What can we do to make it perfect? I believe that is what sets us apart from most companies. There are a lot of people in this industry who focus on getting booked every weekend, rather than making the event the primary focus itself. Why would you care about getting booked every week if you don’t put the same amount of energy and creativity into each event? That is the question IYN asks.
Now, where we are a very busy company, we still put the same amount of excellence into ten events that we would if we just had one event. You will get that same quality of service across the board at IYN. But what makes us unique? I would definitely say our Live Music division. Like I said earlier, people either choose a band or a DJ for their event, we make it to where they get the best of both worlds. The unique and captivating ambiance of Live music when people walk in or during dinner, then you get the versatility and liveliness of a DJ during dancing. Not to mention all of our “Singing DJ’s” are amazing!
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Oh wow. I have listed a bunch of them already, but I would have to attribute my biggest credits to six people.
– My parents, Monty and Tracy Brinkley, for giving me the love of music and helping shape me into the man I am today.
-My Mother and Father in Law, Tim and Debby Edwards, for introducing me to the DJ/Wedding industry. They have also given me so much advice through the whole process.
-William Ryan, owner and founder of IYN, who literally gave me every chance in the book to use my talents and giftings and being one of the best bosses/friends I could ask for.
And most importantly, my everything, my wife, Taylor. She has been the most gracious thing on the planet. Being so patient and understanding of my late nights. Even helping me with weddings for the first half of my DJ career. She has been the best partner I could ask for and cannot thank her enough for who she is in my life.

I had the privilege of having Jeremiah, and Taylor (in their dating days), as my right and left hands… feet, and sometimes brain as a Youth pastor for several years. J is one of the most talented and creative persons I know. He’s not just a great DJ, musician, vocalist and graphic artist. He is also one of the hardest working, positive outlook people ever – AND he can also throw down INCREDIBLE video creations as well. [He didn’t pay me for this promo, but I won’t turn down money…] Jeremiah and Taylor Brinkley are M-O-N-E-Y.
I could not be more excited to see him catching some spotlight. Well deserved shout out.
