Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthony Wright.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Anthony. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
After getting my M.F.A. from T.C.U., I set up a studio to make sculpture and drawings. Over the years I have produced work in a variety of scales and mediums. Predominantly my work is about using forms I see in nature often combined with linear elements. I like to work in steel and wood. Those materials allow for spontaneous decisions which also relates to the way I draw. Using graphite and sometimes oil paint my drawings are also an exploration of shapes in the landscape.
Being in my studio is still the most important part of making my work. After all these years I have developed an aesthetic that is both unique and recognizable.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is not easy to develop an audience. Finding the right opportunity to show my work is sometimes difficult.

I am an artist who is known for making elegant sculptures that contain long lines countered with solid forms. I am proud of the fact that I have maintained a studio for well over 30 years.
