Inspiring Conversations with Matt And Brittani Miller of Dash the Town Property Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt And Brittani Miller.

Matt and Brittani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been drawn to work where I get to build relationships and genuinely help people. Real estate just happened to be the perfect fit for that.

Before becoming a Realtor, my background was in marketing, which gave me a deep appreciation for branding, storytelling, and understanding what motivates people. When Matt and I transitioned into real estate, it felt like we were combining everything we loved—helping people make big decisions, educating them through the process, and building a business that reflected who we are.

As our business grew, so did we. Along the way we’ve navigated infertility, IVF, recovery, becoming parents to twins, and all of the unexpected twists life throws your way. Those experiences gave me a different perspective. They reminded me that buying or selling a home is rarely just about the house. Usually there’s a bigger story… a growing family, a career change, a fresh start, or a chapter someone is closing.

Today, Matt and I lead Dash the Town Property Group, where we help families not only find the right home but the right community. We love introducing people to the neighborhoods, restaurants, parks, events, and hidden gems that make North Texas such a great place to live. We always joke that we’re equal parts Realtors and unofficial tour guides.

I think what sets us apart is that we don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we take our clients’ goals very seriously. We believe real estate should be educational, personal, and even fun. Our goal has never been to simply help someone buy a house… it’s to help them build a life they love inside it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth road? Not even a little.

I like to joke that while we were building a business, life was absolutely life-ing the entire time. One thing I’ve learned about entrepreneurship is that it’s very different from having a job where someone else carries the responsibility. When life gets hard, the business doesn’t pause. The bills still come, your clients still need you, and you still have to figure out how to move forward.

I left my full-time job in March of 2020… you know just a couple of weeks before the world shut down. I had all these grand plans of networking, meeting people, and planting roots in our new city to grow our business. Then COVID hit, and just like that, every plan I had was out the window.

As the world started reopening, life threw us another curveball. During Snowmageddon in 2021, our home flooded. We spent the better part of a year bouncing between apartments and hotels while our house was rebuilt. Around that same time, we were in the middle of our infertility journey. Running a business by day and feeling like I was earning a PhD in IVF by night wasn’t exactly how I pictured those years.

That journey eventually led to one of the most incredible blessings of my life. Through a series of completely unexpected events, and the unbelievable generosity of people like Grant Cardone and former T-Mobile CEO John Legere, who helped sponsor our fertility treatments, we were able to continue pursuing our dream of becoming parents.

Then came twins.

Pregnancy was far more difficult than I ever imagined. What I assumed were normal pregnancy symptoms turned out to be severe iron and potassium deficiencies that required multiple IV infusions, weeks in the hospital, and ultimately an early delivery. Our twins spent nearly a month in the NICU, and while no parent hopes for that experience, I will forever be grateful for the incredible nurses and doctors who loved our babies alongside us. They truly felt like an army of professional Mamas.

The years that followed were filled with the beautiful chaos of raising premature twins while continuing to run a business. It wasn’t until they were about two years old that I finally felt like myself again…that I had the capacity to pour back into the business with the same creativity, energy, and vision I had before.

Looking back, every challenge made me a better business owner. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and empathy. It reminded me that everyone has a story happening behind the scenes, and that’s something I carry with me into every client relationship. Real estate is about homes, but it’s also about people navigating big life moments. Having lived through more than my fair share of those moments, I think I show up differently because of it.

Overall, if entrepreneurship has taught me anything, it’s that there will never be a ‘perfect time.’ Life will keep life-ing. You just learn how to build anyway.

We’ve been impressed with Dash the Town Property Group, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At its core, Dash the Town is about helping people maximize life’s moments.

Yes, we’re Realtors, but we’ve never wanted to be just Realtors. We believe buying a home isn’t the finish line… it’s the starting point for everything that happens after. Birthday parties, first steps, backyard barbecues, holiday traditions, late-night talks around the kitchen island… those are the things people remember. The house simply becomes the backdrop.

That’s why we spend just as much time helping people find the right community as we do helping them find the right home.

We serve the northern Dallas-Fort Worth suburbs and have built our brand around exploring everything our communities have to offer. Whether it’s the best coffee shop, a hidden gem for date night, family-friendly events, parks, restaurants, or new neighborhoods, we’re constantly out experiencing the places we recommend. We joke that we’re equal parts Realtors and tour guides, but it’s honestly true.

What also sets us apart is our commitment to education. Buying or selling a home can feel overwhelming, and our goal is to make sure our clients never feel like they’re navigating it alone. We explain the “why” behind every recommendation, communicate constantly, and believe an informed client is a confident client.

Our brand is also unapologetically human. We don’t pretend to have perfect lives, and we don’t believe business has to be overly polished to be professional. We share our wins, our struggles, our twins, our terrible jokes, and the occasional real estate tip in between. People don’t just hire us because they need a house, they hire us because they feel like they already know us.

If there’s one thing I’m most proud of, it’s that we’ve built a business that feels like us. It’s honest. It’s educational. It’s a little sarcastic. It’s deeply people-focused. And while real estate is what we do every day, our mission has always been bigger than selling houses. We want to help families build lives they love, surrounded by a community that feels like home.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be this: GET IN THE ROOM.

I’m a huge believer that networking changes lives. The opportunities I’ve had, the people I’ve met, the mentors who’ve invested in me, and even some of the biggest milestones in my personal life have all come from relationships. I honestly believe that who you know, and more importantly, who knows and trusts you, can open doors you never even knew existed.

Right now, I’m in the process of launching a BNI (Business Network International) chapter because I believe so deeply in the power of intentional networking. One of BNI’s core philosophies is “Givers Gain,” and I think that’s the mindset people often miss. Networking isn’t about walking into a room asking, “What can everyone do for me?” It’s about asking, “How can I help the people around me succeed?” When you consistently become someone who connects people, shares opportunities, and creates value, it has a funny way of coming back around.

When it comes to finding a mentor, don’t necessarily chase the biggest name in your industry. Instead, find someone who’s a few chapters ahead of you. They’re close enough to remember exactly where you are, but experienced enough to help you avoid mistakes. Reach out, ask thoughtful questions, and don’t just ask them to pour into you, look for ways to add value to their life or business in return. The best mentoring relationships are built on mutual respect, not one-sided requests.

Start by building relationships within your own industry, then intentionally branch out. Some of my greatest opportunities have come from people outside of real estate because fresh perspectives often lead to the biggest breakthroughs.

At the end of the day, networking isn’t about collecting business cards or LinkedIn connections. It’s about building genuine relationships, serving people well, and creating a reputation that makes others excited to open doors for you. Those relationships have been some of the greatest assets in both my business and my life.
