Today we’d like to introduce you to Abbie Oswalt.
Hi Abbie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that the best celebrations tell a story. Long before I became a wedding planner, I was drawn to the details that make people feel seen, celebrated, and cared for.
After graduating from Southern Methodist University, I began my career with an event design company in Dallas, where I learned the art of creating beautiful events from the ground up. Planning my own wedding soon after gave me an entirely new appreciation for the emotions, excitement, and countless decisions that every couple experiences.
When my husband and I moved to Fort Worth, I became the Catering Director at a downtown city club. I loved the fast pace, the logistics, and producing elegant events, but I realized I missed something—the opportunity to build personal relationships with couples and walk alongside them during one of the most meaningful seasons of their lives.
In 2013, I took a leap of faith and started my own wedding planning business, and I’ve been grateful for that decision ever since.
One of the most intentional choices I’ve made is to accept only a limited number of weddings each year. I never want my couples to feel like they’re one of many. Keeping my calendar intentionally small allows me to provide an experience that is deeply personal, highly responsive, and tailored to each bride and her family.
If you ask my clients what sets me apart, they’ll probably tell you it’s my combination of organization and heart. I’m unapologetically Type A, and I genuinely love creating detailed timelines, managing logistics, solving problems before they happen, and making sure every vendor, family member, and wedding party knows exactly where they need to be. My goal is for my couples to be fully present, knowing every detail has already been thoughtfully planned.
At the same time, I believe the best weddings are about more than beautiful flowers and perfectly set tables. They’re about people. Over the years, many of my brides have become lifelong friends, and that’s one of the greatest gifts this career has given me. I feel incredibly honored to walk with families through such an important chapter, celebrating with them, supporting them, and often calming nerves when they need it most.
More than a decade later, I still wake up excited to do what I love. Every wedding is an opportunity to create something beautiful, meaningful, and unforgettable, and I don’t take that privilege lightly. Helping couples begin their marriage surrounded by joy, beauty, and the people they love most is exactly where I’m meant to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting my own business has been one of the most rewarding—and humbling—journeys of my life. It hasn’t always been easy. Every wedding has taught me something new, and no matter how much you plan, events are rarely perfect. I’ve learned that perfection isn’t the goal; creating an incredible experience is. My job is to solve problems before my clients ever know they exist, allowing them to simply enjoy one of the best days of their lives. Every challenge has made me a better planner, a better leader, and a better person. The longer I do this, the more grateful I become—for the trust my couples place in me, the relationships I’ve built, and the incredible blessing of turning my passion into a career I truly love.
As you know, we’re big fans of Abbie O Events. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I believe every wedding should feel timeless, deeply personal, and unmistakably reflective of the couple at the center of it. My role is to walk alongside each bride through every step of the planning process—offering guidance, organization, and encouragement while empowering her to bring her own vision to life. I don’t believe in creating the same wedding twice; I believe in creating the wedding of her dreams. I intentionally accept only a limited number of weddings each year so I can devote my full attention to every couple, building genuine relationships and providing an experience that feels thoughtful, responsive, and personal. From beautifully curated details to seamless logistics, my goal is to create celebrations that are not only stunning to look at, but unforgettable to experience—for the couple, their families, and every guest in attendance.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the wedding industry is entering a really exciting season. Over the next five to ten years, I see celebrations becoming more intentional, more personal, and more focused on meaningful experiences than putting on the biggest show. Couples are placing greater value on authentic moments, thoughtful details, and creating a day that genuinely reflects who they are rather than checking every trend box. Guest experience will continue to take center stage, and I believe relationships will matter more than ever—both with the people attending the wedding and with the team bringing it to life. And if I could make one prediction (or maybe just one wish), it’s that every couple will realize hiring a wedding planner isn’t a luxury—it’s the best investment they’ll make besides saying “yes.” After all, someone has to remember where the rings are, keep Uncle Bob from giving a 30-minute toast, and make sure the couple actually gets to enjoy the day they spent months planning.
