Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Clendenen.
Hi Brian, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
“I became an entrepreneur out of necessity, not ambition. In 2010 within one year, I was fired from two jobs, and I was the sole provider for my family with two small children. Didn’t feel good knowing someone else can make a decision and change the course of my family life so I took my savings and decided to buy my own semi truck and start a trucking company.
I didn’t understand business at the time so I had just as many downs as I had ups, but i kept pushing forward because rather if I’m successful or a failure the out. come was going to be by a decision i made. I found my way into government contracting and learned it the hard way, by doing it. I scaled my own business to multi-million dollar revenue through subcontracting contracting, then finally landing a primarily with the USPS.
Along the way, people kept asking me how I started a trucking company, or how I landed contracts. So I’d tell them. And when they took that advice and saw real results in their own lives, But even faster because they didn’t have to make all the mistakes. it felt good in a way I didn’t expect. Teaching became a passion I never knew I had, it just felt good seeing people elevate and change their lives knowing i had something to do with it.
I had a close friend that was telling me that I could make money consulting small companies because the information I knew was valuable and that the people I helped started companies of their own and gained contracts. I didn’t listen right away but after a couple of years I eventually created Oorah Consultants and began teaching on TikTok (Oorah Consultants – Letsgetitmindset). Then I wrote 4 Easy Steps to Government Contracting to spread the knowledge even further.
I’d lived the fear of not knowing how I’d provide for my family, and I knew there were thousands of entrepreneurs sitting in that same seat. Today Oorah has grown into a full education ecosystem, and we’ve helped thousands of business owners build a real financial foundation and find freedom on their own terms.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No the road was not smooth at all. The struggles I faced was learning how to run a business with no prior education and making what it seem like every mistake possible. While also trying to balance being a father to now a 3rd child. Knowing if i fail I not only fail myself i fail my whole family. Then I decided to add more to my plate and going back to school gaining my Masters Degree in the Science of Business

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very mature at a young age because I was the oldest of my siblings and was given a lot of responsibilities. Although i did smile and have my goofy moments even around my friends I always took the leader position. I like playing sports football, wrestling and baseball but it would never last because i would eventually have to focus on money and helping with my brother.
