Today we’d like to introduce you to Rini Bavishi.
Hi Rini, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I were both trained as dentists in India, but the desire to learn more, brought us to the U.S. and here, we began our journey to grow personally, professionally, and eventually raise a family.
When we moved to the U.S., we essentially started over. We completed additional dental training and earned our U.S. dental degrees, then began practicing in corporate dental offices in Massachusetts. Those years were invaluable—they helped us sharpen our clinical skills and understand the American healthcare system—but we knew we wanted more than just a job. We wanted the freedom to care for patients the way we believed they deserved to be cared for.
Around the same time, we were thinking about starting a family. We wanted our children to grow up in a warm, family-oriented community where they could spend time outdoors and enjoy the kind of childhood we had. That desire led us to Dallas–Fort Worth, a move that turned out to be one of the best decisions of our lives.
We continued working in corporate dentistry for a time, but it became clear that the model often placed limits on the amount of time and attention we could devote to each patient. We wanted to build a practice where decisions were driven by what was truly best for the patient—not by quotas, insurance limitations or corporate policies.
So we took a leap of faith and opened a small dental office in Irving, Texas.
At the time, we were confident in our clinical abilities, but we knew very little about running a business. We were learning everything from leadership and finance to team building and systems management as we went. There were many long days, difficult decisions, and moments of uncertainty. But there was also incredible encouragement from our patients, who trusted us and referred their friends and families. Their support gave us the confidence to keep growing.
Over the years, we built a strong team, invested heavily in continuing education, and expanded the services we offer so patients could receive advanced care in a comfortable and familiar environment. We embraced modern technology and automation to improve both the patient experience and the efficiency of our offices.
Today, what started as a three-person team has grown into three private dental practices serving the Irving, Mansfield, and Arlington communities in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Our organization includes more than 25 team members and provides everything from general and cosmetic dentistry to implants, sedation, orthodontics, sleep apnea treatment, and full-mouth reconstruction.
Looking back, our journey has been about much more than dentistry. It has been about taking risks, starting over in a new country, learning from every challenge, and staying committed to a simple principle: always put people first.
We are deeply grateful to our patients, our team, and the community that has trusted us to be part of their lives. What began as a dream shared by two international dentists has grown into something far more meaningful than we ever imagined.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While I’m grateful for where we are today, the journey has been anything but smooth.
Starting over in a new country was one of the biggest challenges we faced. We had already completed our dental education in India, but in the United States we had to go back to school, earn new credentials, and adapt to a completely different educational and healthcare system. It was both financially and emotionally demanding.
After graduating, we worked in corporate dentistry, which provided stability and valuable experience, but it also made us realize that we wanted greater autonomy to care for patients according to our own values and standards.
Opening our first practice was both exciting and overwhelming. We were well trained as clinicians, but knew very little about business ownership, leadership, hiring, marketing, or financial management. In the early years, we wore every hat imaginable—dentists, managers, marketers, bookkeepers, and sometimes even repair technicians. There were many late nights, difficult decisions, and moments when we questioned whether we had taken on too much.
Like most entrepreneurs, we also faced setbacks. We hired the wrong people at times, made costly mistakes, and learned some lessons the hard way. Balancing the demands of growing a business while raising a young family added another layer of complexity.
One of the most important lessons we learned was that success is not about avoiding challenges—it is about developing the ability to solve them. We committed ourselves to continuous learning, sought mentorship, built strong systems, and surrounded ourselves with people who shared our vision.
Looking back, every struggle helped shape us into better leaders, better business owners, and better healthcare providers. Those experiences gave us resilience and a deeper appreciation for the team, patients, and community that have supported us along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My husband and I are general dentists with advanced training in a wide range of procedures, including dental implants, sedation dentistry, oral surgery, full-mouth reconstruction, sleep apnea treatment, orthodontics, and cosmetic dentistry. Our goal has always been to provide comprehensive, high-quality care so that patients can receive most of their dental treatment in one trusted location rather than being referred from office to office.
Today, we own and operate three private dental practices in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, serving patients in Irving, Mansfield, and Arlington. In addition to caring for patients clinically, much of my work now focuses on building systems, developing leaders, and integrating technology to improve both the patient experience and the efficiency of our organization.
What I am most proud of is the culture we have created. We started with a small three-person team and have grown into an organization of more than 20 dedicated professionals who genuinely care about our patients and each other. Watching team members grow in confidence and leadership, while knowing that together we are making a positive impact in our communities, is incredibly rewarding.
I am also proud that we have been able to combine advanced dentistry with a warm, patient-centered approach. We have invested in leading-edge technologies such as CBCT imaging, intraoral scanners, 3D printing, and digital workflows, but technology is only meaningful when it helps us deliver better care and a more comfortable experience for patients.
What sets us apart is our philosophy of treating every patient the way we would treat our own family. We take the time to educate patients, present all appropriate options, and help them make informed decisions without pressure. Our focus is on long-term relationships built on trust, integrity, and clinical excellence. The greatest validation of this approach is the trust our patients place in us and the hundreds of five-star reviews they have shared, reflecting the experiences and relationships we have built over the years.
Any big plans?
We are incredibly excited about the future.
Our primary focus is to continue strengthening the organization we have built by developing our team, refining our systems, and ensuring that every patient receives an exceptional experience. We believe sustainable growth starts with investing in people, so a major priority for us is creating more leadership opportunities for our team members and helping them build meaningful, long-term careers.
Clinically, we plan to continue expanding access to advanced dental services and adopting technologies that improve accuracy, comfort, and efficiency. Dentistry is evolving rapidly, and we are particularly excited about the role of digital workflows, artificial intelligence, and automation in helping us deliver better care while allowing our teams to spend more time focused on patients rather than administrative tasks.
From a business perspective, we intend to continue growing thoughtfully throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Our goal is not simply to open more locations, but to build a scalable organization known for exceptional patient care, strong culture, and operational excellence.
I am also passionate about mentoring other dentists and business owners who are navigating the challenges of leadership and practice ownership. We benefited tremendously from the guidance of mentors, and I look forward to giving back by sharing what we have learned.
Personally, I am most excited about building something that lasts beyond us—an organization that continues to positively impact patients, create opportunities for our team, and serve the community for many years to come. What started as a dream to practice dentistry on our own terms has evolved into a much bigger vision, and I believe we are only getting started.
