Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Womac.
Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Slidell, La, I moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU (Geaux Tigers!) and that’s where I met my husband. After college, he was accepted into Loyola University Law School in New Orleans so he was moving back home. I decided to go with him, so I’d be closer to my family since New Orleans and Slidell are only about 30 minutes away.
In 2019, I started working in administration at St. George’s Episcopal School in Uptown, New Orleans. During the first few weekends getting settled in New Orleans, we went to grab a bite to eat at Dat Dog on Magazine St. It was delicious! As we were leaving, I started looking for an Instagram account for the best things to do in New Orleans but I couldn’t find one. So, I created @bucketlistnola and posted a picture of our food from Dat Dog and captioned it “Dat Dog is dat good!” From there, @bucketlistnola grew into a brand with 16k+ followers, 75+ local partnerships and helped me develop a passion for using social media as a way to help the amazing local businesses in New Orleans.
After 7 wonderful years at St. George’s, I decided to step back and spend more time at home with my little boy who was only a few months old. My husband was working as an attorney at his family’s personal injury law firm, The Womac Law Firm, and they asked if I’d be interested in creating content and managing their social media since I’d have more time. After thinking about it for a while, I said yes. This wasn’t just family helping family — this is a well-known, multi-generational law firm, with a strong presence in New Orleans. I was honored they trusted me with the brand.
In 2024, I left St. George’s, started Mac Made Creative and things moved faster than I ever imagined. I started with one client, doing it all on my own from the guest bedroom of our home and 2.5 years later, I have an office, 3 employees, 20 monthly clients, 3 major publication features, and still growing!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning your own business is not always as glamorous as people make it out to be — especially when your business grows into something much bigger, very quickly. I was not expecting the growth I experienced and I had to adapt quickly, grow my team and keep pushing forward to keep things on track.
Once you start hiring employees, you have to start actively training to become a CEO. That’s a hard transition to make when you’ve had a hand in everything since the beginning. I’ve hired people who are better at their roles than I am and that’s what makes it successful. I’ve built my brand around my personal values and I hired people who believe in the same values and hold themselves to a higher standard.
One struggle I’ve had to overcome is staying true to myself and not taking every piece of advice people offer. I’ve done things my way since day one and it’s worked well for me. My biggest focus is making sure my team is happy, my clients are taken care of and that we’re building a brand on honesty, integrity, and supporting local. We stay in our lane and try our best not to let the outside noise get us down.
It’s also incredibly difficult being a mom, wife, and a CEO. Managing my time and taking care of myself in the mix has been stressful but I’m figuring it all out as I go. I’m lucky to have such an incredible support system among my family, my friends and my team. I couldn’t do any of it without my village!
As you know, we’re big fans of Mac Made Creative. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m the Founder + CEO of Mac Made Creative, a social media agency based in New Orleans, La. We help businesses create organic social media content that builds a community, not just followers. Social media is all we do, and we do it really well. There’s no distractions from web design, SEO, or old school marketing agencies. If you need that, we’ll connect you with the best people for the job that we’ve personally worked with.
We work exclusively with local brands and only one client per industry. This approach means you’ll never compete with a local competitor. And because we’re a local agency, we understand the neighborhoods, the culture, and the community that you’re trying to reach.
In addition to monthly social media management, we offer monthly content creation, brand photography, on-location creation for day-of-events, consulting, and more. All of our services provide an avenue for clients to improve their social media and grow their brands without spending millions on traditional advertising each year.
I’m most proud of the accolades we’ve received in the past 2.5 years.
2025 – Scouted by The Scout Guide New Orleans Vol. 14
2026 – Named the 2026 Face of Social Media Management in New Orleans
2026 – Voted the #1 Best Woman Owned Business in Jefferson Parish
What makes our agency different is that we have a lot of connections and in New Orleans, that means a lot. We utilize our network of clients, collaborations and partnerships to benefit each other and support local brands in ways that matter. Our clients choose to work with us because of the community we’ve created and the loyalty that comes with it.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Here’s the advice I was given throughout my life that I really focused on when I started MMC. I live by this.
“You’re never too important to be nice to someone”
“Attitude is everything”
“Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing”
“Things could always be worse”
“Do it right or do it twice”
“Loyalty means more than you think it does”
“You gotta want it”
I spoke with lots of other local business owners who were willing to help me learn things, offered suggestions, connected me with the right people, etc. I will ALWAYS help another new business owner starting out. Free advice is the best advice when it comes from someone you look up to.
