Hidden Gems: Meet Ta’Tyana Williams of Chef Ty’s Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ta’Tyana Williams.

Hi Ta’Tyana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
During COVID, family and friends began asking me to cook for their small gatherings and special occasions. What started as simply doing something I enjoyed quickly grew through word of mouth. Before I knew it, I had become a one-person catering company—planning menus, shopping, preparing meals, and serving my customers on my own. That experience showed me how much I enjoy bringing people together through food and inspired me to continue growing my passion into a business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There have definitely been challenges along the way, especially being a one-person operation and having to manage so many different responsibilities. However, I’ve always risen to the occasion. No matter what challenges come up, I stay focused, find a solution, and make sure the event is executed successfully. Those experiences have taught me how to work well under pressure, adapt quickly, and always deliver for my clients.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My favorite thing about Dallas–Fort Worth is the diversity, the people, and all the opportunities the area has to offer—especially the amazing food scene. My least favorite? Definitely the traffic! In DFW, a 20-minute drive can turn into a 45-minute adventure before you even know what happened. 😂 I’ve learned that around here, you don’t just check the time before leaving—you check the traffic!
