Today we’d like to introduce you to APE. LAK3GRIFFIN.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m from Dallas, TX, Pleasant Grove specifically. I fell in love with music as a child listening to blues and old school; I always wanted to be a musician. Growing up I played sports throughout high school and college so that was my main focus but I still would freestyle and write music or poetry so I’ve never been able to put it down completely. At some point I asked myself what I wanted and what would make me happy and the answer God gave me was music. So I poured all my passion, all my pain, all my purpose into my art. The more I record the more peace I feel.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road from family issues or struggles, to issues with my children’s mothers, both my high school and college graduation were pivotal bitter sweet moments themselves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work for progressive. I graduated from UNT with a major in Applied Behavioral Analytics w/ minors in Sociology and Psychology. I am most proud of and what set me apart from others is purely who I am and how I move through the world. I treat everyone with the upmost respect as well as speak and check on everyone I meet or interact with. Even one positive word or interaction can be enough to save someones life or change it for the better; so if I can actively change the environment around me for the better, I can make the people in said envrionment better and I can make the world better in the process.
What does success mean to you?
I define success as freedom. The ability to do what you want, when you want for your family, friends, or loved ones without the worry of money or time. Personally I also want to make sure my children and their children never want for anything.
