Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazib Khan.
Hi Jazib, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a three-time founder with a background in AI and machine learning, but SmileViz did not come from searching for an industry to apply AI to. It came from a problem my family and I experienced firsthand.
My wife and I own a dental practice in the Dallas area, where we saw patients hesitate to move forward with cosmetic treatment because they could not visualize the result. Once we began showing patients realistic smile previews, our case acceptance increased significantly.
That experience led me to build SmileViz with my sister and co-founder, Dr. Ghaznia Khan, a cosmetic dentist and multi-practice owner. She brought the clinical expertise, while I brought the technology, business, and operational side.
The journey has shown me that some of the best ideas come from paying attention to the problems right in front of you and having the courage to solve them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been incredibly difficult, but completely worth it. There is something rewarding about putting in long nights and weekends when you are building something of your own and solving a problem you genuinely care about.
We have faced plenty of challenges along the way. We built SmileViz while working full-time, running a dental practice, and funding the company ourselves. Dentists are extremely particular, so the product has had to perform consistently across different patients, photos, and treatment types. We have had promising partnerships fall through, early marketing channels dry up, and people want a piece of the company without contributing to what was being built.
None of it has been easy, but every setback has made us more disciplined, protective of the company, and confident in the problem we are solving.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I studied business at the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University, where I built a strong foundation in entrepreneurship, strategy, and leadership. I later completed a master’s degree in AI and machine learning, allowing me to combine business experience with a deeper understanding of emerging technology.
Professionally, I have worked at Procter & Gamble, Amazon, LinkedIn, and Salesforce, where I developed experience across sales, technology, business strategy, and agentic AI.
Before SmileViz, I co-founded three startups: Planogramit, BlueChipTaco, and Planvus. Some failed, and some saw success, but each one taught me how to build, adapt, and keep moving when things did not work out as planned.
What I am most proud of is that I never stopped pursuing ideas I believed in. I see myself as a founder, dreamer, and visionary, but also as someone willing to do the difficult and often unglamorous work required to turn a vision into something real.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was surprisingly quiet and highly observant. Around close friends I was loud and outgoing, but in most settings I preferred to watch, listen, and understand how people and businesses worked.
I was always entrepreneurial. At 10 years old, I had my own iPhone jailbreaking and phone-unlocking business. I also spent time helping my dad at his frozen-food factory, packing boxes and seeing firsthand how much work goes into building and supporting a business.
I have always been a big giver, a lifelong gamer, and someone with big ideas, even when I did not always have the confidence to express them. I attended one of the top business programs in Canada despite struggling with stage fright, and later overcame my fear of public speaking during my internship at Procter & Gamble.
A lot of my ambition comes from my family and upbringing. I grew up seeing hard work, sacrifice, and generosity, and those values still shape how I approach business and life today.
