Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Deeb.
Hi Victoria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved taking photos. I have this awesome photo of myself at a kindergarten event holding a little point and shoot camera and it really shows how i have loved photography for so long. I remember my grandfather always had a camera on him and he gifted me my first DSLR “big” camera when I was in middle school. I took many friends prom and senior photos in high school and was the head photographer for our year book staff at school. I went to college at Texas A&M for a degree in history and anthropology and then went to Texas Tech for a degree in Museum studies however, i never stopped taking photos. I mostly did senior portrait photography with a family here and there while at school but since then I have branched out to events and lifestyle photos. I have always been a people person and love meeting new people and making people smile and photography lets me do exactly that, it fills my extroverted soul.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Photography was always a side hobby for me growing up and while in school it got sidelined but I always found myself missing it and loved the few shoot i was able to do while a full time student.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love taking portraits from seniors to families I love capturing those special moments in time. I am most proud of my more recent work with Get Lit Book Fair and being able to support small women owned businesses. I love shopping and supporting local so being able to provide images of their hard work and products to small businesses makes me so happy. I am also a big fan of books I love reading and telling stories and I plan to take my business that direction with fantasy themed shoots in the future.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Just start shooting, look up videos on youtube, you have to start somewhere before you find your style so just have fun with it.
