Today we’d like to introduce you to Aria Norman.
Hi Aria, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I spent most of my life with no idea I was psychic. I think it’s important to mention I had no desire to be psychic, either.
I had heard of energy healing, and I studied energy healing starting in 1995. My main energy healing teacher and intuitive teacher was, (and still is in my mind), Mark Earlix – a phenomenal and unassuming healer and teacher of the healing arts.
I have also studied and been deeply affected by energy healers Eric Pearl, Richard Gordon (and very recently, Charlie Goldsmith), along with many others.
At the eight-years-later mark, through a weird series of events, (which perhaps should have been a clue that I was being spiritually guided), I interviewed for a position as a paid energy healer at a spa, Chicago’s Ruby Room. This was a mind-bender for me, because I had never thought of energy healing as anything other than a very cool hobby. Ruby Room in Chicago is a wonderful place. Ruby Room in Chicago focuses on providing metaphysical/spiritual and calming spa services, healthy beauty products, holistic hair and makeup services, look-within self-help books and tools, fascinating classes and experiences. After four, lengthy interviews, I got the one healer position available at that time, at Ruby Room in Chicago.
A short while after I had been working there, Ruby Room’s owner, Kate Leydon, (whom I still warmly think of as a visionary, fearless leader), announced to her team of energy healers that she was changing our titles to Intuitive Energy Healers. Kate told us about a new service we healers would be doing, in which the client would receive an intuitive card reading before the intuitive energy healing. The card reading would facilitate the energy healing, allowing the healing work to go more deeply and more helpfully into our client’s whole-being experience.
I honestly thought Kate forgot to fire me before that meeting, because I firmly believed I was NOT intuitive, and I firmly believed I could not read cards. Everyone else who was a Ruby Room healer could read what are called oracle cards (so named as to clearly differentiate them from Tarot cards).
Kate and my I-didn’t-even-know-I-had-them spirit guides soon proved my *belief* that I was *not* intuitive – to *not*be correct!
I happily worked at Ruby Room for a handful of years.
Out on my own, I started working for a psychic hotline. I recall this job as my psychic-muscle-building “gym”. Also, I was called to read at many, many festivals and live, in-person events. My first-ever live event as a psychic, was to read for individual party-goers while I was stationed about 40 feet from a live metal band. !!
While out on my own, I continued to practice energy healing (and I still do), at a distance instead of in person, in very short, focused, and targeted sessions.
In person, I taught energy healing workshops, and weekly classes and workshops in many psychic arts. During COVID I so deeply enjoyed coaching and teaching individuals to be professional psychics. With one exception from that time of lockdown, they all are out practicing as professionals today.
I still teach online classes and hold group experiences.
In 2009, a close friend decided I was “Chicago’s Most Famous Psychic”, and he built me a one-page website announcing this. He decided I was The Most Famous based on an article published in the Chicago Tribune in 2009. The question was posed by the Tribune to three Chicago psychics-predict whether Chicago would win the bid for the World Cup. Of the three of us Chicago psychics queried, I got it right, the other two psychics did not. I realize that it’s arguable whether that made me the most famous in Chicago beyond the few weeks around when that article was published, and I offer my huge kudos to all the wonderful psychics in Chicago who should be famous.
That funny little one page website did bring me good, positive attention and more opportunity, and for that I will always be grateful.
My psychic work increased quite a bit from that one-page website. Also, speaking of ‘and for that I will always be grateful’, I got a huge boost from Los Angeles and Chicago wedding and event planner, Anthony Navarro. Anthony mentioned my name in a Yelp community discussion entitled “. . . anybody know any real psychics?” Because of that random thread, Yelp decided, on their own, to put me on their platform. Then, mostly without me asking, folks who had readings from me started to write 5 star reviews on Yelp.
Regarding Yelp reviews; with only two exceptions, all are five star reviews.
I have all-positive reviews on Best Psychic Directory by Bob Olson. Bob is a former skeptic/private investigator.
I have been so happy and fulfilled! I have always loved helping people, and of course who doesn’t love being right most of the time? You will notice I wrote “most of the time”. No psychic ever has 100% accuracy. Why? Free will. The free will of all humans. Free will messes up perfectly good readings. Also, nobody including psychics are perfect. Ergo, no such thing as 100% accurate.
In 2013 I had a new, “real” website (-with pages!) made by a very talented web designer, and I continued to rack up the five-stars. I don’t know if I will ever be able to express how grateful I am for that wonderful, “real” website.
In 2018 I began spending a tremendous amount of time in a different city, to care for a sick family member. By extending myself to another city, and trying to trying to work as a local psychic there, I realized I really should not claim any city, except possibly Chicago, as a base. I am a global, primarily North American psychic. Within the US, the only states I have *not* had clients from are Nebraska and New Hampshire. I have had clients from India (for some reason, lots from India), Norway, Sweden, UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Bejing, Australia, New Zealand, Cuba, Berlin, Ghana, Thailand, Mexico, Costa Rica. I have likely forgotten some. . .
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t a smooth journey.
My “favorite” struggle was the haunted apartment building we lived in in Chicago. It was distracting to say the least.
Because I had been surprised by suddenly knowing I was psychic, I had thrown open my barriers to all things metaphysical. Spirits of all kinds came pouring in! They were and are attracted to the torn and tattered human auras which trauma of any kind can create.
I learned a lot by experience.
My next and related “favorite” struggle was learning to strongly define my metaphysical boundaries. This started with “firing” some spirit guides. My grandmother, paternal, was a bit of an way-outspoken terror in life. In spirit, she stepped up to be my guide, and she served me well with plenty of insights, but then she would turn it around and tease me or mislead me. So, I fired her. Still love her, of course,-she’s family. Another spirit guide was so anxious to get started spirit-guiding me immediately after her physical death (I knew her in physical life), that she got some material she gave me quite wrong. As Reverend Ed Townley, a favorite Unity minister of mine used to say, “Just because they are dead doesn’t make them smart — or reliable!”
Besides cleaning up my spirit guide team, another way I learned to define my metaphysical boundaries was to raise my vibration, and to take on a vibration of authority. I learned raising vibration doesn’t mean incessant, increasing positivity. . . such as affirmations and always looking on the bright side. It means allowing light and balance into your personal vibrational space until there is no room for anything else. And then–keeping an eye on it becomes the work!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a psychic life coach, and I specialize in getting my clients where they want to be or genuinely could be.
Very often I provide a deeper understanding within human-to-human relationships of any kind. I can also provide this for animal-to-human relationships.
Work, Love, Partnership. Projects. Mentors. Investments. Family. Home. –these are a large part of what I do best. I also excel at judging potential probability vs only possible, or probably impossible changes.
I deliberately look for messages regarding truth which has not yet been uncovered, that, if known, and if acted upon, will very likely make my clients peaceful and fulfilled.
I am known for calming my clients.
I am known for releasing clients from unworkable ideas.
More and more often, I have taught clients how to receive their own psychic messages, and teaching them what is psychic and what is not psychic. The ins and outs of receiving their own messages. Yes, I am talking myself out of future paid work when I do this. No worries. I feel called to it. We all can do it, when we are clear within our mind and being.
I am known for uncovering a specific, new way of looking at things, Changing perceptions in my client’s life, tailored to my clients by their spirit guides and mine. I do this by psychically reading their relationships with specific people and with themselves.
I feel that being deliberately neutral and emptying my own vessel before I give psychic impressions sets me apart from other psychics. I reset myself to neutral and cleanse my spiritual “Aria-vessel” several times during a reading and throughout my days.
I believe my main spirit guides set me apart from other psychics. They are very broad and fair-minded, seem to be wise (so far, they’ve proved it). They do not require me to believe them — as matter of fact they would not be happy if I believed their messages. I am only the messenger. I deliver the message.
I am very proud of a reading I gave to a woman whose teen son was in true agony over a breakup. He was beside himself and giving up instead of looking forward or letting time heal him. He seemed insane with grief. I saw that what he didn’t yet know was, people in a love relationship do feel real love, and then, sometimes, they change their minds. His mother came back to me and said “That was it. As soon as he heard that, he was fine. It was a fast shift.”
How do you think about happiness?
Peace and fairness make me happy. Happy may not be a big enough container for peace and fairness. Peace and fairness as a way of life is in the not-too-far future, which makes me bigger than happy.
So do lilacs. I have always loved them, particularly the fragrance and the color. When I was a couple of weeks away from our child being born, the lilacs in our neighborhood were in full bloom. I walked and walked, my heavy maternal vessel and I. . .and I was filled with happiness with every of the many lilac bushes I encountered.
Our child (now fully adult) laughing, and being a brilliant communicator, and in a great love and life partnership, makes me feel whole and joyful and purposeful.
My handsome husband’s good cooking, and his smile.
My maternal grandmother’s neighbor’s recipe for chocolate cake – Mrs Shafmeyer Cake.
Watching the evolutionary lessons that we, as a society, teach ourselves via the arts, particularly film, theater, and books.
Ornate houses and apartment buildings with extremely tall ceilings, built 1880-1920. Preferably Beaux-Arts style. They all make me very happy.
