Today we’d like to introduce you to Wil Turner.
Wil, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began with profound loss. I lost my mother at the age of twelve and never had the opportunity to know my father. From an early age, I found myself searching for what every child longs for—a sense of family, community, belonging, safety, and unconditional love.
As a gay Black man, my life has been shaped by the complexity of navigating multiple identities while trying to find genuine connection. Throughout my journey, I experienced not only grief and loneliness but also the heartbreak of betrayal, rejection, and abandonment by people I considered close friends. Some of the relationships I valued most ended without explanation, while others slowly faded despite the love, loyalty, and support I gave so freely. Those experiences challenged my self-worth and forced me to confront difficult questions about identity, belonging, and what healthy relationships truly look like.
For many years, I poured into others emotionally, spiritually, and mentally, often at the expense of my own well-being. Eventually, I realized that healing is not about convincing others to choose you—it’s about learning to choose yourself, establishing healthy boundaries, and creating a life rooted in purpose rather than the approval of others.
Those experiences became the foundation of my work. Today, as a men’s health, fitness, relationship, and personal growth coach and the founder of Living Well With WiL and the Becoming Whole™ movement, I help men navigate loss, trauma, loneliness, identity, friendship, relationships, and personal growth. My mission is to help men move from surviving to thriving by strengthening their mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being.
I dont share this for people to feel sorry for me but to be inspired. I believe our deepest wounds often become our greatest calling, and the catalyst to inner healing.
My story isn’t simply about loss or betrayal—it’s about resilience, healing, and helping other men discover that they are worthy of authentic brotherhood, meaningful relationships, and a life of purpose and legacy.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Thr journey has not been an easy one! My struggle has been caring deeply for others, probably more than myself.
I have always considered those I care deeply for above all else; including myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My lived experiences is the foundation of my work and the nurturing of my purpose and desire to mentor men and young men like myself.
Today, I am a men’s health, fitness, relationship, and personal growth coach, as well as the founder of Living Well With WiL and the Becoming Whole™ movement. I specialize in helping men—especially those navigating grief, identity struggles, loneliness, and relational wounds—rebuild their lives from the inside out. My work focuses on holistic transformation: strengthening mental, emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being so men can move from merely surviving to truly thriving.
What I am most known for is creating a safe, honest space for men to confront what they’ve been carrying in silence and guiding them toward healing, accountability, and self-leadership. I blend lived experience with practical coaching tools to help men break cycles of isolation, build healthier relationships, and develop a grounded sense of self-worth.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just coach from theory—I coach from lived experience. I understand what it means to lose, mourn, adapt, to rebuild, and to redefine yourself when life doesn’t give you a blueprint. I meet men where they are, without judgment, and walk with them as they learn how to choose themselves, build authentic brotherhood, and create lives rooted in purpose, wholeness, and legacy.
I believe our deepest wounds often become our greatest calling. My story isn’t simply about loss or betrayal—it’s about resilience, healing, and helping other men discover that they are worthy of authentic connection, meaningful relationships, and a life of purpose and legacy.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like best about my city is its sense of community and the way people from different backgrounds come together in everyday life. I appreciate the local culture, the food, and the small pockets of nature and green spaces that offer moments of peace in the middle of a busy environment. There is also a creative energy here that makes it feel alive and full of possibility.
What I like least about my city is that it can be isolating for those who do not have family, a core group of friends or network of supports.
