Community Highlights: Meet Nkechi Fluker of AdaZion Educational Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nkechi Fluker.

Hi Nkechi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up as one of five first-generation Nigerian (Igbo) American children, my parents instilled in us three core values: faith in The Most High, family, and education. My father earned his doctorate, and both of my parents emphasized that education was not simply about earning degrees; it was about using the knowledge we gained to serve others with excellence.

As a child, I loved reading, writing, and creating stories. I knew from an early age that I wanted to help children, so my dream was to become either a teacher or a pediatrician. I initially pursued the medical field through my sophomore year of college before realizing that my true calling was education. I changed my major and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Elementary Education, followed by a Master of Arts in Teaching and my teaching certification.

Although I was experienced in elementary education, my journey led me to middle school mathematics, where I spent 11 years teaching sixth-grade math in both Texas and North Carolina. Those years shaped me in countless ways. I loved building relationships with my students, creating memorable songs and activities to teach mathematical concepts, celebrating their successes, and encouraging them to dream beyond the classroom. Teaching was never just a career for me; it has always been a part of my calling.

During those years, I became increasingly interested in understanding why some students who were fully capable of succeeding in mathematics still believed they couldn’t. That curiosity led me to research sixth-grade students’ mathematics anxiety, their attitudes toward mathematics, and how those factors influenced their academic performance. My research ultimately led me to earn a Ph.D. in Child Development, deepening my understanding of how children learn and reinforcing my passion for helping students build both confidence and competence in their education.

Even before I was married or had children, I often shared a dream of one day starting a school where faith in The Most High and academic excellence could be woven together naturally. Throughout my years in education, I saw firsthand that while academics are foundational, children often carry burdens that affect how they learn—whether family challenges, fear, anxiety, self-doubt, or the pressure to fit in. I believed students deserved an educational environment that nurtured not only their minds but also their character, confidence, and purpose.

When I became pregnant with my first child in 2019, I knew I wanted to build something that would allow me to continue serving families while also being present with my own growing family. That season became the catalyst for a new chapter. In September 2020, I founded AdaZion Educational Consulting LLC in North Carolina (later transferring the business to Texas in 2023), with the vision of supporting students, families, and educators through educational consulting, curriculum development, and learning resources.

Building on that vision, we opened the virtual doors of Kingdom Life Virtual Academy (KLVA) in August 2021 with our preschool program. What began as a small step of faith has steadily grown each year.

Today, as we prepare to begin our sixth school year, Kingdom Life Virtual Academy serves students from Preschool through 6th Grade. Through KLVA and AdaZion Educational Consulting, we partner with families by providing faith-centered education, curriculum, educational resources, and learning opportunities that help children grow academically, build strong character, and develop a lifelong love of learning. We are also committed to expanding access through our scholarship sponsorship initiative so that more families can benefit from a high-quality, Christ-centered educational experience.

Looking back, I can clearly see how every chapter, from my childhood dreams and years in the classroom to my doctoral research and entrepreneurship, has prepared me for the work I have the privilege of doing today. My greatest joy is seeing children grow in confidence and faith, families feel supported, and knowing that what started as a dream is becoming a lasting resource for our community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape both me and the work I’m building today.

Like many entrepreneurs, I have experienced moments of doubt, procrastination, uncertainty, and wondering whether I was capable of bringing such a big vision to life. Transitioning from being a classroom teacher to a business owner required me to develop skills I had never been formally trained in, including marketing, branding, website development, social media, budgeting, and entrepreneurship. Before starting my business, I had the mindset of an educator, not a business owner. One of the greatest blessings during that transition was learning from my husband, who helped me begin thinking like an entrepreneur. He encouraged me to see opportunities beyond the traditional classroom and challenged me to grow in areas that were completely new to me. While I’m still learning every day, that shift in mindset has been instrumental in building AdaZion Educational Consulting and Kingdom Life Virtual Academy.

In the beginning, I wore every hat—from curriculum writer and teacher to graphic designer, customer service representative, technology support, administrator, and social media manager. It was both exciting and overwhelming, but it taught me skills I never imagined I would have.

Another challenge has been balancing my many roles as a wife, a mother of now four young children, an educator, a business owner, and someone committed to continual professional growth. There have been seasons when progress felt slow, and I questioned whether I was doing enough. Over time, I’ve learned that building something meaningful takes patience, consistency, and faith. Growth rarely happens overnight, but every small step moves you closer to the vision. Therefore, prayer is key.

Funding has also been one of the greatest challenges. Like many small businesses and independent schools, much of our growth has come through personal sacrifice and reinvesting into the mission. That’s one of the reasons our scholarship sponsorship initiative is so meaningful to me. It allows individuals, businesses, and organizations to partner with us in making a quality, faith-centered education more accessible to families who desire it but may need financial assistance.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. Every obstacle has strengthened my faith, stretched my leadership, and reminded me that worthwhile work is built one faithful step at a time. Each challenge has prepared me to better serve the students, families, and educators who are at the heart of everything we do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about AdaZion Educational Consulting?
AdaZion Educational Consulting LLC was founded with one mission: to help children, families, and educators flourish through high-quality, faith-centered educational support. While our work includes educational consulting, curriculum development, professional learning, publishing, and instructional resources, the heart of our organization is Kingdom Life Virtual Academy (KLVA), our fully online private academy serving students from Preschool through 6th Grade.
What sets us apart is that we don’t simply focus on academic achievement; we believe children thrive when academic excellence, strong character, faith in The Most High, and meaningful family partnerships work together. We intentionally create learning experiences that encourage curiosity, critical thinking, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning while recognizing that every child learns differently.

Our goal has never been to become the largest educational organization, but to faithfully serve each family entrusted to us. We value small class sizes, individualized support, and building genuine relationships with our students and their families. We want parents to feel like partners in their child’s education rather than spectators.
One area I’m especially passionate about is helping students build confidence in mathematics. My years teaching middle school mathematics, along with my doctoral research on sixth-grade students’ mathematics anxiety and attitudes toward mathematics, inspired me to develop the R.E.A.D.Y. Math Strategy™, a structured problem-solving framework that helps students think critically, develop confidence, and approach mathematics with greater understanding.

Brand-wise, I am most proud that what started as a dream has grown into a community. Every curriculum we create, every lesson we teach, every resource we publish, and every family we support reflects our commitment to serving others with excellence and integrity.

As we continue to grow, one of our greatest priorities is making this type of education more accessible. Through our scholarship sponsorship initiative, we are inviting individuals, businesses, churches, and community partners to invest in the next generation by helping more families access a high-quality, faith-centered education.

Ultimately, I want readers to know that AdaZion Educational Consulting and Kingdom Life Virtual Academy exist to serve. Whether we’re supporting a student, encouraging a parent, equipping an educator, or partnering with the community, our purpose remains the same: to help children grow in knowledge, wisdom, confidence, and character so they are prepared to make a positive impact in the world around them.

As a North Texas organization, we are excited to continue partnering with families throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth community while welcoming students from across the country through our virtual academy. We hope that more families discover that there is a place where academic excellence, faith, and family truly work together.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
There isn’t one specific app, book, podcast, or blog that I rely on consistently. The Bible is a great source of wisdom, guidance, and encouragement, both personally and professionally. Beyond that, I have always been a learner. Much of my inspiration comes from researching educational best practices, studying how children learn, reading current educational research, and continually refining curriculum and instructional strategies to better meet the needs of students. I enjoy asking questions, exploring new ideas, and thoughtfully applying what I learn to create meaningful educational experiences. My goal is always to improve, not simply for the sake of innovation, but so that children, families, and educators are better supported.
