Meet Craig Meinhart of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Craig Meinhart.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started writing when I was 13 and never stopped. Along with writing I’ve always had a deep love for music and movies, envisioning a life where I got to practice all three disciplines, which has led me to publishing several stories, recording albums and performing live with multiple bands, and writing and directing music videos, short films, and now my first feature.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve consistently gone down the road less traveled and it’s always a bumpy ride. Art is a notoriously difficult to path to pursue, filled with rejection, uncertainty, and unsavory characters. But all worthwhile endeavors are challenging and test your mettle. It’s a lifelong pursuit and along the way I’ve lost friends and loved ones, faced hard times financially, gotten a lot of bad advice, and been turned down more times than I can count. I’ve also had some of the best times of the my life. It all comes with the territory.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an author, vocalist, and writer and director. I write horror and suspense fiction, my bands include SILVERTONGUEDEVIL, SHIV, and HOUSE OF MINOS, and my first feature film is called BEWARE! THE DEVIL’S WRATH and is debuting in theaters this fall. I am also a member of the Dallas Producers Association and run the production company Alsatian Allied that specializes in the horror and action genres.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk taking is part and parcel of being creative. I’m a gambler in the sense I bet on myself and dive headfirst into projects, learning how to do them as I go. I don’t play cards or bet on sports, but I do put everything I have into finishing whatever I’m working on.
