Hi Rolanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Rolanda, and Im the founder of Sensual Scents Co. My journey as an entrepreneur began in 2017, starting as a creative outlet for me that gradually grew into something much more meaningful. I launched my candle business in 2017 with a passion for creating long lasting, good smelling, handcrafted candles that help people slow down, relax, and enjoy life’s quiet moments. The most exciting part about candle making has to be seeing the finished product and having your community support and enjoy a product that was created by you. That feeling gives instant gratification and cant be taken away from you. Entrepreneurship has been a journey of many twists and turns for me. Over the years, Ive managed to balance work, raising a family, and pursuing my college education while learning what it truly means to build a business. There were some seasons where I had to step back, regroup, and rediscover my vision. Instead of giving up, those rare moments strengthened my purpose and pushed me to relaunch my brand over and over again with a continuous renewed focus.
Today, Sensual Scents Co. is more than a candle company, it’s a reflection of peace, restoration, and new beginnings. Every candle is personally crafted to create an atmosphere that encourages rest, comfort, and intentional living. My ultimate goal is for each customer to experience more than just a good smell, I want them to feel a sense of relaxation, calm, and connection every time they light one of my candles.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road yet it’s been very rewarding. The main struggle has been funding for the business and balancing the business with everyday life… Even though the struggles always work themselves out, you have to stay diligent in your work and it’ll all balance out and make sense eventually for sure…
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a Retention Specialist for online college students. I assist them while they are going through school to attain their degrees… Im also a college student, working towards my BSBA. I graduate soon! I am most proud of being a single mom of 4 kids. They all are doing so good, I have 1 in the Navy, 2 in college and 1 entering her 10th grade year of high school… What sets me apart from others is that there is only one ME. I can’t be duplicated, remade or remixed… I am the only me on the earth and I love that for me lol

People can just reach out to me, Im pretty open! I love collaborating, giving back to my community and just supporting us all however I can. Im a visionary so my ideas stretch far beyond my capabilities to do them all but I’d love to share them with others.
