Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Clark.
Hi Brandy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story has been a journey of faith, purpose, and following God’s leading, even when I had no idea where it would take me. Before becoming a full-time author and entrepreneur, I served eight years in the U.S. Air Force as an intelligence analyst and then spent more than a decade supporting Special Operations. Those experiences taught me resilience, servant leadership, and the importance of living with purpose.
Everything changed when my youngest daughter, Vivian, was three years old. A story about her and her grandmother planting a flower garden came to me unexpectedly. I wrote it down in a journal and didn’t think much of it for several years. Then, at the end of 2018, I felt God prompting me to turn that story into a children’s book. I’d never written or published a book before, but I knew I needed to be obedient.
Six months later, my first book was published. I chose the self-publishing route, learned everything I could, and trusted God through the process. That first book became an Amazon bestseller and went on to win multiple awards. Since then, I’ve published three award-winning children’s books, expanded into women’s fiction with *Beyond the Empty Swing*, and created faith-based resources that encourage women and families to build a Christ-centered legacy.
Today, my mission is to help children and women embrace God’s purpose, find hope and healing, and recognize that our legacy isn’t built on perfection—it’s built on faithfulness. More than any award or accomplishment, I’m most grateful to be a wife, mom, and grandma, because I believe the greatest legacy we leave is the faith we pass on to the next generation.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. It’s definitely been a journey of faith with plenty of challenges along the way. When God first called me to write, I had never written or published a book before, so I had to learn everything from scratch. I spent countless hours researching, asking questions, and figuring out the self-publishing process. There were plenty of moments when I questioned whether I was capable or whether anyone would even read what I had written.
Building an author business has brought its own challenges, too. Writing the books is only a small part of the job. Learning marketing, growing an audience, speaking, and running a business all stretched me in ways I never expected.
On a deeper level, writing about faith, legacy, and healing has also required me to face some of my own broken places. My women’s novel, *Beyond the Empty Swing*, especially challenged me to explore generational wounds, forgiveness, and redemption. But I’ve found that God often uses the very places where we’ve struggled to make the greatest impact in the lives of others.
Looking back, I wouldn’t call it a smooth road, but I would call it a faithful one. Every obstacle taught me to depend on God more, and every challenge has become part of the story He’s using to encourage others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Today, I’m a full-time author, speaker, and creator focused on helping women and families build a Christ-centered legacy that lasts for generations. I write both faith-based children’s books and contemporary women’s fiction, and while those audiences are different, they share the same message: God can redeem our stories, and the legacy we leave is built through faithfulness, not perfection.
I’m probably best known for my award-winning *Vivian’s Perfectly Imperfect* children’s book series, which began with a story God placed on my heart for my youngest daughter. Those books have become an Amazon bestseller and have received multiple literary awards, but what means the most to me is hearing from parents and grandparents who tell me the stories have opened meaningful conversations about faith, identity, and God’s love with the children in their lives.
I’m also passionate about encouraging women. Through my novel *Beyond the Empty Swing*, speaking engagements, and faith-based resources, I help women navigate healing, strengthen their faith, and become intentional about the legacy they’re leaving in their homes, marriages, and families.
What I’m most proud of isn’t the awards or recognition. It’s knowing that God has taken an ordinary act of obedience and used it to impact lives. Every email from a reader, every child who discovers they are wonderfully made by God, and every woman who chooses to break unhealthy generational patterns reminds me why I do this.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t just write stories. I write with a legacy mindset. Everything I create is rooted in biblical truth and designed to help people see God’s faithfulness in the middle of real life. I don’t pretend life is perfect because it isn’t. Instead, I want to remind people that God does some of His greatest work through our imperfections, and that’s where lasting hope is found.
What’s next?
I’m excited about what God has ahead. One of my biggest goals is to complete the six-book *Vivian’s Perfectly Imperfect* children’s series so even more families can use these stories to help children grow in their faith and understand their God-given purpose.
I’m also looking forward to continuing to write for women. *Beyond the Empty Swing* opens the door to conversations about healing, forgiveness, and generational legacy, and I plan to keep writing stories that encourage women to break unhealthy cycles and embrace the future God has for them.
Beyond books, I’m expanding my speaking ministry and creating more faith-based resources for women, moms, and families. My heart is to equip people with practical, biblical encouragement that helps them build intentional homes, strengthen their marriages, and leave a legacy of faith for future generations.
Ultimately, my vision is much bigger than publishing books. I want to build a ministry and a community that points people to Christ and reminds them that the greatest legacy they’ll ever leave isn’t found in their accomplishments but in the faith they pass on. If, years from now, families are stronger, children know they are loved by God, and women are walking confidently in their purpose because of something God allowed me to create, I’ll consider that a life well lived.
