Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Cottrell.
Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing makeup when I was in ninth grade! I was running for homecoming queen and wanted to look and feel beautiful. My mother bought me a fashion fair compact of base and it was the start of my makeup career. As I have worked diligently throughout the years I have improved and perfected my craft. I am always learning and evolving in the makeup industry. I credit God for pulling me forward as a professional makeup artist for over 20 years strong.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a professional makeup artist the road has been smooth and so refreshing. I have the most amazing clients that are family to me. When you do what you love to do you will flourish in it. When God calls you to an assignment he will carry you through it. I am grateful to the Lord my savior for all of the open doors and connections that I have gained on my journey!

Makeup by Ash is a safe and curated business for women of all ages, backgrounds, and races. My specialty is soft and natural makeup applications that enhance and compliment women while keeping their natural beauty intact. I am known for being reliable, professional, and supportive beyond the chair of makeup. My kind heart and hospitality to those that I service is what sets me apart from others. I am so thankful that not only do I have a makeup brand but I have a heart for my clients. I always say beauty starts from within and when you get your personal experience you will leave feeling beautiful and more confident externally and internally! The makeup is just a layer of awesomeness added to the personalities of every lady that sits in my chair!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
As the owner of Makeup by Ash I feel the best characteristic that is important and contributed to my success is being kind. Always treat others the way you desire to be treated! As you are nice and respectful to your peers they will reciprocate that back to you! It’s a beautiful thing to operate in kindness and love!
