Today we’d like to introduce you to Skyler Elie.
Hi Skyler, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey in education started in 2012 as a kindergarten teacher, and if you would’ve told me then where this journey would take me, I probably wouldn’t have believed you! Over the last 15 years, I’ve had the opportunity to teach different grade levels, coach and support teachers, lead professional learning, and step into instructional leadership.
Somewhere along the way, I realized that my love for education didn’t stop when the school day ended. I wanted to create something of my own that allowed me to pour into children, families, and educators in a different way. That’s how Pink Apple Educators was born.
Today, I’m an instructional leader, author, entrepreneur, and mom. I get to coach teachers during the day while also building a brand that includes children’s books, literacy experiences, educational resources, and Storytime with Mrs. Skyler.
I’m still growing, still learning, and definitely still building! But through every season, my heart has stayed in the same place—helping children learn, helping educators WIN, and creating meaningful experiences for families.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance all the different parts of who I am—educator, leader, entrepreneur, author, wife, and most importantly, mom.
There have been seasons where I’ve questioned myself, had ideas that didn’t work the first time, and had to figure things out as I went. I’ve also had to learn that I can be ambitious and still set boundaries. Everything doesn’t have to happen right now, and every opportunity isn’t necessarily for me.
In fact, my own journey of trying to find that balance is what led me to write Leading While Mothering. I wanted to share the real experience of pursuing leadership and purpose while still being present for the people who matter most to me.
Building Pink Apple Educators while working full-time and raising a family has required early mornings, late nights, consistency, and a lot of grace. The road hasn’t always been easy, but every season has helped shape the woman, mother, leader, and entrepreneur I’m becoming.
We’ve been impressed with Pink Apple Educators, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Pink Apple Educators started as a business created solely to support teachers with resources and tools to make their work a little easier. Over time, the vision grew, and Pink Apple evolved into a literacy brand focused on helping children develop a love for learning while supporting the educators and families who pour into them.
Today, we specialize in children’s books, educational resources, interactive Storytime experiences, and literacy experiences for schools, libraries, early childhood programs, and families.
What sets Pink Apple apart is that everything is created through the lens of an educator. After nearly 15 years in education, I understand what children need to learn, what teachers need to support them, and how important it is to connect learning between school and home.
I’m most proud of the evolution of the brand. What started with supporting teachers has grown into creating books and experiences that put literacy directly into the hands of children and families—and we’re still growing!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is being present and making an impact. I want to be present for my family while also doing work that matters.
Whether I’m leading educators, creating books, or building Pink Apple Educators, I want what I do to leave something meaningful behind. Success for me isn’t just about how much I accomplish—it’s about the lives I’m able to touch along the way, especially children, educators, and families.
