Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Netherly.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve had social media for 20+ years (oh my!), but never put much thought into creating and posting content with intention. When I entered my 40’s I just began to wonder who else was out there that’s in the same season of life as me. I felt alone, but thought surely I can’t be the only one with the same thoughts and feelings. I began posting just sharing little glimpses of my life no matter how big or small the moments were. Now I’m sharing my health and wellness journey, daily life, and everything in between. I hope my content reminds people that it’s ok to do things new even if you have to do them alone and to do things that bring you joy.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely had challenges. In the beginning I would post something on one of my accounts, then delete it because I felt silly or insecure about it. I still sometimes struggle with comparing myself to others, but I have to remind myself that it’s better to be my unique and maybe cringey self than to try being like someone else. Self doubt will always sneak up on me every once in a while, but in those moments I have to remember somebody somewhere will connect with what I’m posting. There truly is an audience for every interest and stage of life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I work as a Legal Assistant in a professional setting. Before my job now, I was a teacher for 12 years. Just a little over 4 years ago I took a huge leap of faith and jumped into a career with absolutely zero experience. I’m proud that I started with literally no legal knowledge and am now a trusted professional who can handle all the unexpected twists and turns that tend to happen in the legal field. I guess you could say being brave and navigating new and unknown things has always been part of my story.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am always true to who I am and don’t imitate other people. People are craving authenticity over perfection online and want to see others who feel like they understand, and that’s why I feel like my content feels relatable.
