Hi Wendy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
One day I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize myself. My life was so consumed with being a devoted wife, a mother, a career woman, and the “strong” friend, that I honestly felt as if I lost the essence of who I truly was internally. The worst part – I didn’t know how to find myself.
That’s when writing became my therapy.
I’ve always written creatively, but I stepped into a season in my life when my internal peace depended on it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Pivoting my life from a corporate career woman to focusing on my dreams as a writer and an author was the most terrifying road I’ve travelled. Everyone saw the social media posts highlighting my books and events, but were never privy to the nights i was paralyzed with fear. However, I made a crucial decision in my life and its gotten me through many obstacles along this entrepreneur and dreamer path – never allow your fear to be stronger than your faith. When I’m reminded of those simple words, I continue on my journey to ‘solve the world’s problems one poetic story at a time’!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Many people are unaware that I almost released my first book into publication under Anonymous . I knew I was a gifted poet, but was overwhelmed with fear of judgement from my many poetic stories highlighting my vulnerability. A week prior to print, I woke up in the middle of the night with the idea of the pseudonym W. Reign – meaning Wendy Rules.
That simple pen name gave me the courage needed to share my gift of unfiltered and honest poetic storytelling with the world.
I’m no longer intimated to write and speak openly about love, heartbreak, and the journey back to self and
I’m very honored to have a voice that resonates with readers in every season of love, loss, healing, and self-discovery.
My debut collection, Poetry To My Lips – takes you on a spicy journey through love, lust, loyalty, and betrayal – capturing the emotional struggle between desire and truth.
Love Is Poetically Blind explores the grey areas of emotion — where love, hope, and heartbreak collide – unpacking the toxicity of societal unspoken expectations.
Each book stands alone, yet both offer a powerful narrative that’s honest and relatable. For we know love in all its beauty, can be equally complex.
