Life & Work with Timothy Gargiulo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timothy Gargiulo.

Hi Timothy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
– My story started growing up in Arlington, Texas where through high-school and undergraduate studies, I developed multi-instrumental skills as a guitarist, percussionist, and pianist. I then went on to graduate with a masters degree from the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program in 2019, during which I discovered some significant medical issues that I had to get surgery for, so I came back home to Dallas where my parents lived to take care of those things and start establishing my music business. Since then, I’ve taught many private music lessons, created music for 3 short films, done some post production audio for some short films, and added freelance AV work to the ways I keep myself afloat as I continue to build and discover my version of a successful music focused business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been everything but a smooth road for me. My struggles thus far have included a genetic speech impediment called “stuttering” that I’ve yet to get significant freedom from, needing to have sinus, left ear, and neck surgery, having to devote many hours to general body rehab & strengthening for the sake of getting free of my chronic neck and back pain that came into my life after undergraduate studies, and finally, having significant allergy/congestion issues that I’ve yet to get totally free from.
These struggles have made the progressing of my music focused business/career very long winded and slow to say the least, but God continues to supply me with the strength and hope to keep moving forward the best I can.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would say that the main thing I specialize in and have focused the trajectory of my business on is creating music for films and other forms of media like video games or TV. Some of the “on the side” music focused things I’ve done is compose “concert music” for classical ensembles some of which I have recorded and released on music streaming platforms, teach private lessons on guitar, drums, and piano, and create & sell guitar sheet music of complex solo electric guitar pieces of modern guitar icons like the Japanese Guitarist Ichika Nito.

As far as what I’m currently the most proud of, I would say that the electric guitar mini songs and parts I’ve recorded/included in recent film scores have been what I’ve felt the most proud of so far mainly because of the novelty of the style of guitar playing I drew from stemming from my studies of the music of Ichika Nito.

Lastly, the main part about me that I feel sets me apart from others is my somewhat obsessive attention to detail in the technical aspects of my music production/mixing and my fervent passion for novelty & emotional pungency in the music I create.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work/collaborate with me by reaching out to me about whatever music focused needs they might have via my website contact page or any of my social medias which are linked at the top of my website at timothygargiulo.com.

I don’t really believe in asking for financial donations, but I believe that following and supporting my social media posts can help me gain more visibility in the spaces I’m trying to be a part of as a music professional.
