Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrell Greenlee.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My initial start to videography was a very unique start approximately 11 months ago. Originally I’d rather pay a friend (Tags) to record and edit my youtube videos but he advised me as a friend it would be better for me financially if he just showed me a few tricks so that I can shoot and edit my own videos. I was reluctant at first but purchased my first camera, the Canon 80d primarily for Real Estate inspired videos. I figured it would be easier for me to vlog from a Realtor’s perspective so that potential clients could gauge my personality and see if it fits them.
I started vlogging regularly and began to fall in love with videography itself as I started producing content for my church, Calvary Church Dallas Campus. From there I acquired my first paid client mid-November of last year. I was stuck on how much I should charge him because I truly loved filming now and how do you put a price on your purpose/passion?
Projects slowly picked up from about once a month from November to January to 2-3 projects February. Something drastic changed in March causing me to get weekly projects and it has been doing nothing but growing. April to date has been my busiest month and that was halfway through the month. I secured my first corporate deal for a 4 video a month 6-month contract as well as partnering with key influencers in the city. I recently created my company due to me working more with companies compared to recap, rap videos and other videos I started doing.
Has it been a smooth road?
It was not a smooth road. I first got my skills from posting countless vlogs on youtube with most not gaining over 30 views per video. I heard the comments, directly and indirectly, asking “why is he putting all that energy into youtube if he isn’t gaining subscribers or views?” and the fact I invested so much money into gear only to hear negative feedback was not easy. Besides that when I became to get comfortable with what I was doing my portable hard drive crashed with all of my content. I was crushed and didn’t pick up my camera for a week.
Also, I originally bought a laptop that did the bare minimum because I just needed to send emails and search for properties as a Realtor. Possibly the worst laptop you can try to edit high-quality videos on. It uses to take me hours to edit 1-3 minute videos because of rendering. I won’t even get on the fact I couldn’t color grade videos because of how bad the quality of the screen was. There were tons of hurdles between getting started and now.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Ty Visuals MMG – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Like stated earlier my company is in its infancy only a few weeks old but my brand has been building the last 5 months. As a company, we provide Media from photography and videography and growing into Social Media/Marketing. I personally specialize in pretty much any type of video you can ask for. I have done church recap videos, music videos, club recaps, red carpet videos for companies, a video for a tire company and most recently a company that installs Tesla Wall chargers. I am known for being the versatile videographer with an out the box style.
I am most proud of in only a short time being able to have the income to retire my fiancee and have her not only work as my assistant but also give her the time and income to grow her company as a photographer.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love best about our city is the community, the skyline, all the different neighborhoods, diversity this city provides and all of the opportunities that are here.
What I like least about our city is that some individuals feel they must leave in order to be successful. We have everything we need here to be as big as LA or New York in regards to quality content creators, influencers we have here. Every week I’m meeting more and more people that are just dope individuals.
