Today we’d like to introduce you to Shavonne Gray.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shavonne. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, or “FWMade” for short was birthed during a time of transition. As a girl and young adult who struggled with self-esteem and confidence, I grew weary of shaming myself because of others opinions about me. Growing up I was ridiculed about my skin tone, which leads to a trickle effect of other insecurities about myself. As I grew deeper in my relationship with Christ, I started to learn how beautiful I am in our Savior’s eyes.
I learned how to love and appreciate my uniqueness. Psalm 139:14-15, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” became my banner verse. In September of 2017, FWMade was created. Instagram and other social media has been a huge platform of how I got to where I am today. Displaying positivity and self-love has become therapeutic and encouraging for myself and others.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When FWMade launched it was an easy sail. Blogging and posting regularly was something I looked forward to doing. However, when I created my YouTube in January of 2018, that is when difficulties arose. Some of the struggles include editing, video quality and learning all the technicalities of uploading videos. As a person who is not very tech savvy, it was and still is discouraging at times, but I constantly remind myself that I am a beginner.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with FWMade – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
FWMade is created to empower and inspire girls and young women to be confident in who they are and how they look. I am currently a blogger, YouTuber and public speaker for girls and young adult viewers.
I am most proud of the vulnerability, love and connections that FWMade has brought from viewers and panelist who’s been on my YouTube for a specific topic. What sets FWMade apart from others are the genuine connections, relationships and small groups that have been built because of the relatable topics that FWMade shares.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I can see FWMade turning into a business where merchandise such shirts and others can be sold. Also, FWMade plans to host events for girls and young women in the future, in addition to the things already done (blogging and YouTube). Lastly, I can see FWMade hosting conferences for young women.
