Thanks for sharing your story with us Latisha. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a mother of 2 very active young ladies and they are consistently competing in events or playing sports, and the amount of money I was spending on personalized gear was crazy. I started off just playing around with a machine that I purchased to try this whole T-shirt thing out. After weeks of learning and weeks of purchases, I was finally ready. I learned the basics and it just took off from there.
I started wearing my products that I was making for myself and immediate family and friends and the overwhelming response that I was receiving from others to make them items came at a huge surprise. I started with my very first order from a peewee cheer team, and they loved the items that I provided and it just kinda took off from there. The name was pretty easy to come up with because it’s, of course, my last name and my specialty is Tee’s.
The referrals from family and friends became so constant that I had to definitely expand and grow this baby overnight, and today she is a huge success and I’m just grateful for the opportunity to provide quality work and a very quality price for all of my customers. At the end of the day, I consider myself to still be an amateur and I just want to continue to grow and continue to make all of those that trust and believe in my work happy.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have had the struggles along the way, once this project began for me. I had people reaching out and needing 100 shirts at a time; being that it was a new start to me, it became stressful and overwhelming., but with my family support and them keeping me grounded and always there to lend a helping hand, I made it through. I definitely look to expand my business to a location within a couple of years, so that I can hire the staff that I need to make sure that I can accommodate all customers and meet all of their expectations.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
The Irving area is a great central location for Sharp Tee’s because all of our work comes from referrals and with a great diverse city, I have clients from all over. I have customers that come as far as Lancaster because they are happy with the quality of work they will be receiving.
I would definitely recommend to anyone that is starting out with a new business in the area, is to never give up and you just have to be very specific with the goals that you intend to accomplish. You as a business owner in any business have to find your niche, and what works for you. You never want to become so overwhelmed that you don’t love what you’re doing.
