Life and Work with Gina Scholl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Scholl.

Gina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Beauty Blessings started from a conversation I had with a shear sharpener about Faith and using a business to minister to others. As a hairstylist, I felt called to go out into the community and start using my gifts and talents to help people who needed to be lifted up. I realized that they’re were other professionals who wanted to join this movement, so I created Beauty Blessings Ministry. This community is made up of all different types of beauty professionals and volunteers who love to bless others using their skills and talents for God’s glory. There are no requirements for the blessings except to love on someone else and be creative. The ministry holds regular events in the DFW area and is open to any beauty professional around the globe.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has been an incredible road that I have followed God on. I strive to let him open my doors and not force my own timing. I have had to learn another side of an administrative business that I do not use in my daily work life and I recommend asking for help if you need it. I lean on the Holy Spirit to guide me for my Beauty Blessings and I stopped seeking people out to join the ministry. I learned to let God find the volunteers because only He knows their heart. Only He knows the right spiritual gifts needed to serve. As the founder, releasing the control over to God took the stress off of my shoulders and has kept my passion alive. Watching God deliver time and time again the support and the volunteers with His love is why I am so in love with him and this ministry.

Please tell us about Beauty Blessings Ministry.
Beauty Blessings Ministry is unique because it is an open community for beauty professionals to be creative with how they want to bless others. We have had so many different types of blessings. We have helped bless our military, first responders, the elderly, veterans, homeless, mothers and children, and the sick. We have sent support for natural disasters, mission work, children in foster care and cps care, animals and so on. Beauty Blessers always get to express their creativity which I think is what our industry is known for!

There’s a wealth of academic research that suggests that lack of mentors and networking opportunities for women has materially affected the number of women in leadership roles. Smart organizations and industry leaders are working to change this, but in the meantime, do you have any advice for finding a mentor and building a network?
Find people on social media who inspire you and follow them to have access to many mentors. Go to workshops and conferences centered around your passion. Seek out networking groups for young professionals and if you can’t find any near you, start your own! Don’t be afraid to go to events alone. Sometimes, it’s the best way to get connected.
