Meet Nancy Coblenz of Rebel Role Model

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Coblenz.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m currently the CEO of Rebel Role Model, LLC, a multimedia company that features successful disruptors internationally, but this was not the career I intended to grow into. My passion was extreme sports and supporting female athletes through business and legal development. As a boxer and motorcycle rider, extreme sports was part of my DNA. My educational career took me from graduating UC Santa Barbara as a Regent Scholar to law school in San Diego, studying sports law, to landing into the educational technology industry.

Throughout all my experiences, I’ve always found a way to educate, advocate and empower the youth in the various communities I’ve lived in, around the world. As a first generation Egyptian American, traveling to thirty countries throughout my life, I’ve developed a mission to provide educational and career development for young adults, wherever I can.

This mission has flourished into partnering with key nonprofit organizations across the country, providing the resources for children, teens and young adults to begin a promising pathway to success. Recently, I’ve organized an Entrepreneurial Workshop and Pitch Contest for members of Girls Inc., taught intensive classes to students of UT-Dallas, UT-Arlington, University of North Texas and University of Arizona.

Interestingly, many corporations, like GameStop and TetraPak International have taken notice of my involvement with millennials and have invited me to educate their executive leaders on how to integrate millennials into key management positions within their companies, since 35% of their workforce will retire within the next ten years.
You can find me cruising around town on my sport bike, Harley or skateboard, involving my media company, Rebel Role Model into the Dallas ecosystem of entrepreneurs, savvy companies and empowered students. But the most exciting endeavor my team is working on, is in the augmented and virtual reality space, unveiling during RebelCon 2018.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I inherently gravitate towards male dominated sports and industries…i.e. boxing, motorcycle racing, car racing, sky diving, skateboarding, sports law, technology, and now augmented and virtual reality, not because of the novelty of being one of the few females, but because I truly enjoy and am passionate about those activities and industries.

I’ve become accustomed to always being questioned for my knowledge, passion and perseverance throughout my entire life. But after a few laps, or rounds in the ring, my fellow team mates and colleagues learn quickly that I’m here to compete…and win.

The most push back I’ve experienced has been in the industry of technology. As a past educational technology expert and consultant, my education, experience and abilities have come into blatant question, met with harsh hesitation and sometimes stark criticism within the industry. For some, these negative efforts would fiercely impact their trajectory and success within the industry, for others, they may lack confidence, but for me, I use it as fuel to my rocket ship blasting to success.

Inspired by my own hardships, Rebel Role Model released a “Rebel Female Empowerment” limited series, featuring women warriors in Silicon Valley making huge efforts to change the entrepreneurial climate, where 98% of venture backed startups are led by men.

Rebel Role Model – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m the CEO of Rebel Role Model, LLC, a multimedia company that features disruptors who create their own success by utilizing their unique abilities and skills.
