So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
7 years ago, I started as a very curious pole dance student. I wanted to know if I could be as strong, as sensual, as successful in pole dancing as I have seen others be. Like most of my current students, I convinced a close friend of mine to come with me to a class because I was fearful of what it was going to be like. I immediately fell in love with the art, challenge, and freedom pole fitness had to offer and I was hooked! After a few months of classes and buying not 1, but 2 poles for the house I decided I wanted to become a pole dance instructor. So, I set out to find a studio that would certify me and provide me the opportunity to grow even more in this niche business. I found one eventually and after 2 times of losing the opportunity to other candidates my opportunity came. I was asked to teach pole and I ecstatically accepted. I went on to teach for a full year then was promoted to a studio manager in which I held both positions for another 2 years. Just as I knew in the beginning I wanted to be a pole dance fitness instructor, I knew I wanted to own and operate my own studio one day. April 2016 the time had come – and I was offered the opportunity to take over the studio I was working for and embraced my dream of studio ownership. Of course, I accepted and the rest has been not only history, but hard work, pursuit, development, and any and all activities you could expect from a newbie business owner. The journey has been a great one and I expect a lot more in the future from Power BAR Women’s Fitness.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been all smooth, but the bumps have certainly realigned the vision of the studio in a good way. Power BAR Women’s Fitness is like any other business that faces the woes of growing their client base, brand awareness, and perfecting their craft. We work hard to create a professional and dependable brand that provides a safe place for students to come and grow. As a team, we are growing our optimistic vision for the future successes and know we are well equipped to fight the battles ahead.
Please tell us about Power BAR Women’s Fitness.
Power BAR Women’s Fitness Studio is a pole fitness gym that holds regular classes, hosts private parties, and promotes special events in studio and outside of the studio. We specialize in developing total body strength and are known for our ability to teach students with little to no experience and train them through our specialized 6-week program. Our in-studio culture sets us apart from other studios. We are very client driven and invested in each student that joins us. We strive very hard to be an active part of each women’s fitness success and confidence progression.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over I probably would have did things in a different order, but I couldn’t say I would have not taken the same steps I have taken thus far. Even through the difficulty I have faced, it all served a purpose in my professional development as an owner and the brands growth as a professional entity.
