Check out Rebecca Southern’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Southern.

Rebecca, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born and raised in Southern California. I first discovered my love of music in church. About 3 years ago, my mom and I moved to Dallas, and everything really began to change for the better. Since moving to Dallas I really worked on developing my voice and my craft. I took private vocal lessons, collaborated with Laughing Wolf Arts Week, began performing and joined the Women’s Chorus of Dallas. With the chorus we perform in several concerts a year, performed back up for Demi Lovato at her most recent show here in Dallas and sing the national anthem at sporting events. Moving forward, I am honing my craft, continuing to perform and work on my upcoming EP.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work? I write music. I want people to connect, go on a journey, and escape to a happy place when they listen to my music. I want them to know that no matter what they are going through, they are not alone, we’ve all been there.

How can artists connect with other artists? The key is to seek out and find like-minded people. For me that came in two forms. first, I found the choir, and when I did, I had no idea how much I needed to spend time with music loving people!! I truly feel at home with them. The second was via social media, I used local hashtags, along with my name and Dallas singers, which led me to connecting with local artists.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
They can find me on my social media.
