Meet Nick Foley of Valley Bio Texas in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Foley.

Nick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I spent a great deal of time with my Grandpa in my youth. As I was watching and learning from him about his business, he ensured that I knew the value of hard work. The principles learned are what fueled me to start my very own businesses at the age of eleven. I set out to mow lawns in my neighborhood, and I picked up a newspaper route. When I’d go on my route, I could tell which neighbors could use a little help with their yard maintenance. I would offer my services for no charge to those who couldn’t maintain their yards on their own. Giving that kind of help as a, young boy gave me a great sense of accomplishment and it made me feel really good. That is where my foundation in business started.

One thing my Grandpa often said of me: “You have an entrepreneurial spirit!”

As I got older he used to tell me to choose a career that was recession proof. He was in the mortuary business and even though the biohazard business isn’t the same, both relate to death, and both are met with people facing a terrible event. I started working this business as a direct result of my Grandpa.

Considering too, I had a friend whose work was as a technician in the crime scene cleanup business & on occasion, he’d ask me to help on some of his jobs. The exposure to this side of biohazard opened my eyes. I soon realized that the industry lacked compassion for families going through some very emotionally raw experiences. The standards were not as high as I felt they could have been either. This glaring need strongly influenced my decision to build a biohazard remediation company. I felt very strongly that I could cultivate change for the better in the industry. In 2015 I established Valley Bio Emergency Services, LLC now Valley Bio Texas. My company’s foundation is based on delivering the highest quality of professionalism and to provide services with compassion and dignity for the family’s faced with tragedy.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any business, there are hurdles to jump, or a unique case that presents unusual challenges. Often there are long, stressful nights wondering if decisions made about a job done, were done correctly? Or? If it could have been handled more appropriately or efficiently? Were the actions taken the best ones that could have been delivered? I can honestly say, that every obstacle I encountered when starting Valley Bio Texas was worth it. I own a business in a super small niche market, and I consider it to be successful. There’s been no shortage of blood, sweat and tears put into to building this company. The biggest obstacle in this industry is reaching a good client base.

How do I effectively reach the general public? In business, a person can spend countless hours and thousands of dollars building a Brand and could soon learn only it could be better executed.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Valley Bio Texas – what should we know?
Valley Bio Texas is a biohazard remediation company specializing in Crime/Trauma Scene Cleanup, Infectious Disease Cleanup, Clandestine Drug Lab Cleanup, Hoarder/Filth Cleanup.

COMPASSION is What sets Valley Bio Texas apart. I expect all technicians in my employ to go above and beyond what’s required to get the job done to accommodate my clients’ needs. The unfortunate nature of our industry is the fact that we encounter people who deal with acute grief. They are undoubtedly at a low point & they’re trying to cope with the nature of a death, be it suicide, murder or the discovery of the death of a family member who lived miles away, when decomp had set, and the last thing they should have to deal with is how to clean it up. I try to assist all my clients in any way I can to help them through these difficult times.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Compassion. In this line of work, you have to have compassion. People contact us, second after first responders. There are times when you just feel helpless for a family member because they have spent 50 years of marriage, and now their husband or wife has passed away. They’re looking to cleanup, generally something they are hit with unexpectedly & unlikely prepared. Without compassion for the family you will fail in this industry because you can’t be made of stone and do this job.
