Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Mansfield.
Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been an entrepreneur since I can remember, from starting picture frame companies in 5th grade, babysitters club in middle school, and various random ideas in high school and college; it always came back to my love of sharing good food to create memories for others. I grew up cooking for my family from age 11 and really became attached to nostalgic dishes that I know specialize in making healthy for others. I have a bachelors in nutrition and advertising and have combined my love of good food, customer service, and nutrition to create food that leaves lasting memories. I am from Florida, moved to California for 7 years, where I was in real estate, then I was a Muay Thai, MMA, and Brazilian Jiu-jitsu fighter/trainer and managed a gym in Santa Monica. Then, I opened palate pro and did that full time and was recruited by a production company to write, direct and produce commercials while being a food stylist on a set. That put my dream on hold for awhile and moved me to NYC then Dallas and now, I found my niche and Dallas and LOVE IT.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The best phrase I can think of that truly explains what it is like to run your own business is, “if it was easy, everyone would do it.” Such a simple saying, but 1000000 percent the truth. I opened my business in 2013 and now, 5 years later, am finally in a position where I can feel that feeling of “yes, this is going to work” it takes thousands of leaps of faith and failure in order to run your own business and go after your dreams. As a young woman, it’s definitely harder, no because we aren’t offered the same advantages but… because when managing people you do have to be a certain level of tough to be able to get the results you want. My biggest piece of advice I can give to any young girl with a dream is.
You will never walk a day in your dream until you start running after what you want, and NEVER look back! 🙂
We’d love to hear more about Palate Pro.
Palate Pro is just the first of many endeavors I have planned in the food world. It is the truest representation of what I do, and what makes my style different than others in my field. I specialize in creating meals that have tons of flavor but are customized fully to meet the individual needs of others. Our specialties are private dinner parties, brunches, happy hours, themed dinners. We also have a chef made meal service that is very popular with families looking to eat healthily but have tasty good customized to their diets, such as paleo, vegan, kosher, macros, keto, pescatarian etc. I love this service because it is 100 percent custom, and there is no set menu and we very rarely make the same meal twice. Lastly, we focus on in-home private chef services where we do all the work in you hone and grocery shop, plan, prep, cook and manage the kitchen in families homes in every aspect.
What truly separates Palate Pro, is a true passion for flavor and customer service. We make sure that clients experience is like dining at a 5-star restaurant, we offer free meal replacements, we give gifts on birthdays and anniversaries, and we constantly reward our clients with delicious treats to show how much we value the #1 ingredient in our dishes, which is them. Because without them, no meal could ever be made. 🙂
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I grew up with my mom but my dad was an entrepreneur. I believe not having him in my life made me want to start businesses so someway we could connect. Outside of that, my mom used to work so many jobs that she didn’t like, just to put food on the table and take care of us so we could have a great life, I remember feeling that I didn’t want to live like that. I knew working for others I would always have a hole in my heart after working for several years in different industries. Cooking for my family at a young age really created a love of food I can’t fully explain, the reward I felt from doing it has now rolled over to my adult life. In so many ways my family is opposite of me, all play it safe.and for some reason that made me want it more.
