Meet Jenna Blumenberg of Point of Rental in Grand Prairie

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Blumenberg.

Jenna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I came down to Texas in order to volunteer with Pais Movement, a missionary organization. And part of what they do is partner with businesses. So I work at Point of Rental, doing what I can to help the office create a positive, encouraging atmosphere, as well as helping the company get involved in community outreach. But, since I started working here, I have been looking for a way to bring my passion (and degree) for cooking into the office. Then, with some help from friends, Point of Lentil was born. Every Thursday now, a little pop-up cafe opens outside the break room at Point of Rental; and all the proceeds are donated to help support other people who also volunteer at Pais Movement. Since we’re all volunteers, we’re supported by the funds we manage to raise and the donations of people who believe in what we are doing. Having been in the program, I believe in Pais Movement’s value, so the money that I raise goes to them. The only thing better than food is giving, so why not do both?

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are always going to be difficulties – for example, I’m originally from Colorado, where 80 degrees is too hot and humidity is a myth; the extended Texas summer has…forced a reconsideration of those opinions. Professionally, though, when I first started working at Point of Rental, I realized just how much I didn’t know. It’s been a constant learning experience and every day I find new things that I can improve upon. I had never worked in an office before, so even sitting down all day was a new experience for me, but I have grown so much since started. I don’t recognize myself anymore and I’m happy that’s the case; if you don’t change and learn and grow then you miss out on so many opportunities.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Point of Rental story. Tell us more about the business.
Point of Lentil, which operates inside Point of Rental, is a pop-up cafe every Thursday that provides homemade meals for the office. I make all the food myself (there’s that culinary degree put to good use) and with the help of my fellow volunteers serve lunch. I am proud of the fact that not only are people appreciating the food, but Point of Lentil brings the company together. People from all different departments sit together an eat in the conference rooms. Our CEO eats with our developers and accountants. Food is the great equalizer, and I love being a part of bringing people together. Point of Rental has been so supportive of this. They really care about their employees and if any opportunity to bring them together comes up, they jump on it. Point of Rental is a family; one I am proud to be a part of.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck? Coincidence? Divine intervention? I am supremely blessed and I don’t think it’s luck. I think God is smiling down on me because there is no other explanation for how good my life is. I have wonderful parents, amazing sisters, and the best friends a girl could ask for. I work for a fantastic company, I’m being supported by an incredible church, and I’m being hosted by the sweetest, kindest couple on God’s green earth. I have the opportunity to do what I love for coworkers that I adore and provide for those who are doing the Lord’s work. I could not have a better life, and there’s nothing lucky about it.
