Today we’d like to introduce you to LaRon Tryon and Mary Jackson.
LaRon and Mary, please share your story with us.
Our story started out as an experiment. I had just become a Kappa and wanted to figure out the easiest way to get bowties without having to buy the generic ones with basic colors and also sometimes, they were basic and pricey. I asked my mother/business partner if she could make a bowtie, she went and bought a pattern, and the rest was history. She started making bowties for my fraternity, family, friends, pastors and the whole 9. Then we sat down and decided we needed to make it a business, with her skill set and my attention to detail and creativity, we can make a name for ourselves. Now, you have Dapper Sense, producing all custom suit accessories, with unlimited diversity, creativity and one of a kind ideas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road, thus far, has been smooth, which is definitely a blessing. The only small issues we have encountered, is trying to find a particular fabric for a special order or timing with particular orders but other than those very small issues, we have been blessed with a smooth road
Dapper Sense – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Dapper Sense is a suit accessory line that creates top of the line in terms of quality, creative and second to none suit accessories for the most important people, the customer!
We have no limits to suit accessories, we make bowties, ascots, lapels, pocket squares, and much more for all sexes and ages! I’m most proud of our diversity and ability to make everything, with a better quality but cheaper price. Also, we separate ourselves because we are able to bring our customers ideas to life through our partnerships with various fabric stores, being able to pinpoint their ideas and give them an immaculate feeling while wearing Dapper Sense.
What were you like growing up? Personality wise, interest wise, etc.
Growing up, I was a laid back quiet kid for the most part but an adventurous kid in my comfort zone. I was reserved but outspoken when I needed to be, I was a big fan of karate and football. It’s funny because my mother would try to make me dress up in a bowtie and I would never wear them. Now, I don’t feel right if I don’t have one on.
