Meet Bryce O’Donnell of REMAX DFW Associates in Carrollton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce O’Donnell.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It’s a long twisted road to get where I am today. The short version is, I grew up in East Texas in a town of about 500 people where I truly didn’t fit in or belong. In 2011, after college, I came to Dallas and began working to try and better my life and find a community of my own that included more than my family and horses. I spent 10 years as a cheer and gymnastics coach (both in east Texas and the Dallas area), while having a part time job as a real estate assistant. I decided in 2015 to begin the process of getting my Real Estate License after watching my boss make her own schedules and develop a work-home life balance I really admired. I obtained my license in 2016 and have spent the last 2 and a half years building my business and trying to become a contributing member of society who can actually make a difference in someone else’s life!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
HA! There is no such thing as a smooth road anymore and I have gone through a lot of changes in the last 6-7 years. Leaving my comfort zone and diving into a new city was a challenge in itself, but lets be real, it was nothing compared to the challenges of the last few years in Real Estate. I have been told I am too young, I am too country for the city, I don’t have enough experience, the list could go on forever. The biggest struggle though, was getting into the selling side of the business in the biggest boom our area has ever seen. There were agents everywhere and quite honestly, I didn’t make any money in my first 7 months. Literally, ZERO dollars. Nobody wanted to trust a 20 something who just got his license when there were so many other agents who were older and more experienced. It was and sometimes still is an uphill battle that is not easy, but it is so worth it when you get to hand the keys to a first time home buyer and see the sheer joy on their face, knowing you helped to make it happen!

REMAX DFW Associates – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I work with first time home buyers mostly. Though I do list homes for sale and handle rentals for clients.

But really, I am building a brand based on educating my clients to the best of my ability and giving them as many tools as possible to make the best decision. I hope to create something that will keep my clients coming back because at the other end of every closing table is a human being who just wants their part of the American Dream. Quite honestly, this is also what sets me apart. I don’t do transactions, I create relationships.
To date, I am most proud that I have been able to assist many, many clients, without compromising who I am and what this little company stands for!

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
When I was 21 and first moved to Dallas, success was being able to afford my own apartment and eat something better than ramen and peanut butter. Now, it’s seeing growth in my business and still having time for a happy home life, but I know that it will change again. It’s human nature to want more and I am no different than anyone else in that respect. I want more money, I want more acreage for my horses, I want kids, I want, I want, I want…

Success is something I try to see every day. Even if it’s just getting all of the laundry folded before my husband gets home. If you get complacent in your current victories, you will never grow to higher achievements and that to me is opposite of a successful life.
