Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylee Bowen.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Photography was always a fun hobby of mine growing up. I loved taking pictures of friends and family on those disposable cameras! When I was 13 I received my very first camera as a Christmas gift, and I haven’t put a camera down since! I am a self taught, natural light photographer. I have taken many photography classes as well as learning my way through the crazy world of photoshop. My passion for photography grew after my daughter was born. I started to learn the value of capturing her daily life moments as well as her big milestones!
Has it been a smooth road?
The passion for photography was burning inside of me so I would accept any job, any where, for any amount. I even worked at a portrait studio for some time where all creative ideas were taken from me because I had to follow a protocol. But I wanted that camera in my hand so bad but I also had to provide for my daughter. I bartended to make ends meet until I finally couldn’t take it anymore and I just quit. I knew I could trust in the Lord to provide and Im proud to say this is my second full year of just photography as my income and its because I took that step and walked on the water. This journey of just photography income has been such a blessing but there has been months where I would have to hustle to make bookings happen but this just sparked my love for photography even more because I had to work hard for my passion and show my daughter to chase her dreams NO MATTER WHAT. Even on the bad days, I still get to say Im doing what I love.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Photography By Kylee – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Im a bold artistic portrait photographer. I love creative looks and bright contrasty editing! I pride myself in being able to shoot in any light of day. I have been able to capture the suns light and even sometimes the moons light to create real lighting for every photo occasion. I am a one woman show and I LOVE IT. I do it all from newborns to weddings. I don’t have a guideline of what I shoot. This always leaves the door open for new opportunities and to not always do the same thing every day. Switching it up is good. I get to cuddle with babies during the week and then celebrate the love between two people on the weekend. I think what sets me apart from other photographers is my fun outgoing personality. Im relatable and comfortable. Most of my clients have become good friends of mine. This isn’t just a job to me. This is my life. I don’t want to just be apart of one of the greatest moments of your life and then never see you or talk to you again. My client comeback rate is 90%. I will almost never likely capture a family and then not see them the next year. Or maybe even a few months later. I love that.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
So here’s the thing… I have just moved to Arlington this past year. Most of my clientele is in the Plano Frisco area. So, to say what I like the least about Arlington would be not having much clientele out this way yet. But what I love about Arlington is that it offers tons of unique areas to shoot. And you are in the middle of the metroplex, so I can travel anywhere in the DFW!
