Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Rodriguez.
Andrea, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
My love for art has been there since I was a little girl. Throughout the years I’ve been challenge with many obstacles that I’m still managing to get through. So many times, that I wanted to give up and break down but my love for the makeup has dug me out of the darkness. I started out going to cosmetology school right after high school but life decided to take me in a different direction, I knew I loved the industry, I knew I loved making people feel and look beautiful but my heart wasn’t quite satisfied doing just hair. So, as I slowly drew myself away from the industry, never did I ever, thought of myself as a Makeup Artist, I only worked on myself until others saw the beauty in it and started requesting my services. This industry has opened many doors for me, I’ve been able to collaborate and work with other amazing artists and business owners in fashion shows, lash lines and other events. Make up is my new form of expressing myself through others.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I hope to inspire others, they say beauty comes from within and I agree but sadly sometimes we all need a little boost of confidence and remind ourselves that we are indeed beautiful inside and out. All make up does is enhance your natural beauty.
In your view, what is the biggest issue artists have to deal with?
The biggest challenge for Makeup artist is actually starting a career, just like every business owner out there, it takes time to develop and perfect your skills, advertise your business, make connections to actually see the fruit of your work and watch your dreams come true. Yet there’s so many outlets to showcase your work and your story.
