Check out Blythe Dennis’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blythe Dennis.

Blythe, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
So I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember! I started singing at church in the youth choir. Throughout middle school, high school, and college, I participated in several choirs and performing arts groups. Upon graduating from college, I moved to Dallas for graduate school. I did one semester and I decided that I had to follow my heart and pursue my music career. And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since!

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I am a singer/songwriter. I make music because it’s the only career that ever seemed real to me. I have always had a deep love and appreciation for music. As a child, I used to stand in front of the mirror and sing songs to myself. I was so into it! LOL! My parents bought me a boombox when I was about 6 or 7 and I would listen to it all the time. Eventually, I learned how to turn my headphones into a microphone. After I learned that, I’d take my parents old tapes and record myself singing over them. You couldn’t tell me that I wouldn’t be a singer. I make music that allows people to reflect, to feel, and to heal. I try to be as transparent as possible when writing. It’s like therapy for me. And it just so happens to touch others. With music, I feel that I can say so many things that I’d be too afraid to say with just words.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
I think that it’s much easier for artists to get exposure these days with all of the social media platforms available. However, I think that it’s also a little harder to truly be noticed due to the saturation of said markets. So, it is definitely still a grind. I’ve found that building an organic fan base has proved to be better. The numbers may not be as high but the connection that I build with my fans is invaluable.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My music is available on all digital platforms. My latest EP is titled “The Heartbreak EP”. Stream it! Buy it! Share it!
