Life and Work with Annalisa Moreno

Today we’d like to introduce you to Annalisa Moreno.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Annalisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Blogging and YouTubing, oh, what a road it has been. It all started in 2017 when I was a senior in college! Being in college was sooooo SOOOO stressful, let me tell you. Maintaining homework, going to class, a social life, and a job, made life crazy stressful and chaotic. One day, I had enough… I had a realization that I needed to take a step back and BREATHE. I needed to stop and take in the beautiful city around me. I was living in Austin, Texas at the time and there was so much exploring that still needed to be done. I told myself, “I have so much time to stress later, right now, you needed to do something for yourself, something that will bring you happiness”.

I wanted to find a way that I could incorporate my love for helping and connecting with others as well as my love for beauty, faith, and empowerment… what better way than with my very own blog and YouTube channel!?

With that, Stressed But Blessed became a center for beauty tips, sharing my personal style, encouraging others through my faith, and sharing my own personal struggles and victories. At the end of the day, I wanted my readers and subscribers to know, we are all human and we all go through ups and downs.

Fast forward to a couple of months later and a wonderful opportunity landed in my lap, through blogging and connecting with some great boss babes. In May of 2017, I have appointed the Beauty Stylist of Icona Lashes. What a dream, you can say! From sharing my tips and tricks to all things Icona Lashes to empowering individuals to feel their best self, I truly feel honored in this role.

Fast forward a little more to 2018 and wow. I look at how my brand and role as a Beauty Stylist has grown and I think to myself, “We are just getting started!”

My main goal of Stressed But Blessed is to inspire the world around me. In the past, I have dealt with low self-confidence and self-esteem. It’s not fun to be bullied or to be made fun of for simply, being you. I truly strive to create a community of encouragement and empowerment through faith and embracing one’s true beauty.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Was it a smooth road? Not at all! Some days are easier than others, of course. Starting a blog, a YouTube channel, and branding yourself, in general, is not easy. Trust me, I haven’t fully mastered it myself. It takes a lot of patience, time, and effort. At the end of the day, it comes down to – How bad do you want it? How bad do you want your voice to be heard? How bad do you want to help others through your own personal journey?

My best advice is, if you want it, GO FOR IT. Create that blog or YouTube channel you have been wanting for so long. I can promise you – someone out in this world will benefit and appreciate the time you have taken to share your wealth of knowledge.

Of course, fear was one of my biggest obstacles. I feared what people would think of me and how people would react to my content. The truth is, those who truly support you will encourage you and lift you up. Those who benefit from your content will always be in your corner. To me, that is what keeps me motivated in this industry.

It’s easy to play the comparison game with others who have a similar goal as you. My best advice for that is, BE YOU. You are YOU for a reason. Embrace it, share it, and love it!

Please tell us about Annalisamoreno.com – “Stressed But Blessed” is the mantra of my blog.
My main areas of focus are beauty and faith. I love sharing my personal tips for makeup and Icona Lashes. In addition, I love sharing my love for Jesus. I am a Christian and my faith is a huge part of what makes me, me! I believe true beauty, self-worth, and faith all go hand in hand. I also love sharing fashion advice with men and women. In being a former men’s personal stylist. I love helping others feel empowered through their personal style in the workplace, everyday life, or special occasions. Just another endeavor I’d love to jump back into in the future!

Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
One of the biggest barriers in female leadership and in the beauty and blogging industry is, the idea of having to meet society’s standards of what you are supposed to look like, be like, act like, live like. It’s one of the biggest deterrents to women in an industry that encompasses beauty and fashion. Instead of breaking one another down, we must build each other up. The only way to break this barrier is through women empowerment. As women, we must come together, embrace each other’s talents, and unite to create a positive image of what it means to be authentically you.
