Has it been a smooth road?
No journey is perfect and I believe that mine is still in progress. It always will be. As I grow and learn more about myself and the various industries that I’m able to work with, I take a whole new step forward!
I believe that no road is without a few bumps along the way. One of my most challenging struggles was balancing my 9-5 job in corporate America while also working for myself as an independent marketing influencer and contract stylist. It was very very taxing to commit myself to different fields that were all important to me. While all of my work has been related to a certain degree, it got to a point where I had to make a choice, and it was frightening to have to make the decision to leave my office job and bet on myself… but it was the best decision that I’ve made in my career so far, and this is just the beginning!
My advice for other young women who are just starting their journey would be to always have a safety net. When you are young, you just have more energy! You have more bandwidth to diversify your skillset & your income. So, you can stay out late partying, OR you can build a side business to fall back on if you need to make a change. Depending on how you manage your time, you can even do both! But be strategic about your transition if you really do want to work for yourself or make more time to spend putting into your business. Put in the work, and you will reap the benefits.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a media and marketing specialist, and I work for myself as a digital influencer in travel, fashion & lifestyle as well as marketing director for other Dallas businesses from plastic surgery to entertainment television. I am also a buyer, merchandiser, and manager for my online boutique Karis’ Kloset on Poshmark, where I share my style with friends, family, and followers as well as sharing my experiences as a young entrepreneur and brand ambassador.
I’m known for my positive energy and for being a content creator, putting an aesthetically pleasing spin on various products & services for improved marketing reach across platforms. With a background in apparel design and styling, I always try to apply a creative spin on any project that I work on, and this unique quality is what I enjoy bringing to the table for the strongest presentation.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
My family has always been very supportive of me and my creative dreams since I was a young child in art class. With both of my parents having strong art skills that they professionally pursued, I always felt like my creativity was welcomed and well-fostered at home.
