Today we’d like to introduce you to Christen Lockett.
Christen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From the start, I have been involved with and inspired by the sports industry. During my time at Texas Christian University, I danced for the TCU Showgirls, was a student worker for TCU Football, taught dance class at the TCU Campus Recreation Center and danced professionally for the WNBA. Working in student-athlete development fueled my fire to help athletes prepare for the life outside of their sport.
Throughout my experiences with TCU Athletics and subsequent internships, I have been blessed with amazing mentors in the sports industry that have inspired me to take this path in sports PR. They have instilled in me the desire and passion to help people like you reach your highest potential.
In 2017, I graduated from TCU with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies and a minor in General Business. In my time since graduation, I have used that fire to help strengthen my client’s brands and promote their success. My first PR client came a little before graduation and put my skills to the test. Since starting with him, I have been able to gain a substantial amount of clients and decided to officially start doing this as a career this past spring,
I am excited to do this through my career in Public Relations and Digital Advertising, because I believe that in a world that’s gone digital it isn’t just helpful, it’s necessary.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since I work at a marketing firm full-time during the day, run a blog, and a women’s Christian group, I can definitely feel a little overwhelmed at times, but the work is definitely worth it. I am so thankful for my team and the support that they give me in moments of weakness or when I feel like I am being stretched to my limits. The biggest struggle is wanting to help everyone. I am still learning that it is okay to say no!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lockett-Up PR story. Tell us more about the business.
I am no stranger to sports, brand management or the power of social media influence. With experience in sports marketing, social media and brand strategy, I have helped several athletes grow and maintain their brand and social media platforms. While working with me you will know your brand and reputation is her biggest priority. I have helped her clients gain successful campaigns with notable global brands because it’s my mission to show your accomplishments off to the world.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck. I believe everything happening according to God’s plan. If you would’ve asked me a year ago if I would be in this position today, I wouldn’t believe you, but God had other plans. He gave me a passion for helping people reaching their highest potential of success. It is such a good feeling to know that I am helping people and companies position themselves for a lifetime of greatness everyday.
