Conversations with the Inspiring Geordian Abel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geordian Abel.

Geordian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have loved clothes, accessories & anything girly since I could walk. I was raised to always search for the latest & greatest sales, which is still my motto at the age of 24. I have always loved to write & remember going through school writing many stories & submitting them for awards. Fast forward several years to college, at Texas A&M, where I pursued a journalism degree. Blogging was on the rise my sophomore year, which is when I decided why not combine my passion for fashion & writing. From there, Adore More with Geor was born. I love encouraging women to dress their best, to feel their best, & sharing how you can do so on a budget. Adore More with Geor is my outlet to express my style, beliefs, dreams & more. My goal is for my platform to be a girl’s long-distance BFF, by not only sharing fashion tips & rounding up the best sales, but also by diving deeper into my personal life & struggles.

Has it been a smooth road?
Life is rough. Everyone has their struggles & figures out how to navigate them in the best way possible. I struggle with a social media addiction, particularly Instagram, on the daily. Being a newlywed, I find myself being on my phone way too much and not being present and in the moment, with my husband. Same scenario when on vacations & trips. I try to remind myself to take in the trip & the views, instead of instantly grabbing for my phone & sharing the moment with my audience. I think this is something a lot of girls struggle with today, as social media continues to grow. My biggest piece of advice is to set boundaries. My husband & I try to have a no phone rule after 8 pm. Granted, this is something we are still working on, but we know the boundary is there. Also when traveling, try to take in the moments, views, memories & more first, & then whip out your phone & snap a picture. Can be tricky, but I think if you are conscious about it helps!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Adore More with Geor story. Tell us more about the business.
I believe what sets me apart from other bloggers is sharing items that are affordable. And when I say affordable, I don’t mean a $100 dress! I mean the $50 items & under that you can wear multiple times to multiple occasions. I only share pieces I personally hang in my own closet, as this helps me stay true to my brand. I am always looking for the best bargain & love sharing significant sale finds with my audience! Oh, & my favorite part about Adore More with Geor is finding the best dupes. If you are not familiar with what a dupe is, it’s finding that $35 bag that replicates that $200 designer bag & looks just as fabulous. Don’t get me wrong though- this girl still loves a good designer handbag!

For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Being a woman, I feel like the opportunities are endless & I have the world at my hands. My momma always taught me that no dream is too big & to always shoot for the stars. My goal is to be an example girls can look up to & to always stay true to myself while doing so. With social media, this can sometimes be extremely difficult. I mean who hasn’t caught themselves comparing their life to other girls on Instagram? I don’t know about you, but I am guilty. This is something I think women are well positioned for, as we can make a difference & share our hearts with others about how no dream is too big & to not chase after the other girls’ life & dreams behind the Instagram screen.
