Meet Jonathan Davison of Jonathan Davison Photography in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Davison.

Jonathan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always had the photography bug ever since I was a child when my parents bought me a set of encyclopedias and I was introduced to National Geographic. I was inspired by all the wonderful images of nature and the lifestyles of people in other countries. I didn’t actually get serious about taking my photos until 2010. The revelation came after taking a trip on vacation and being inspired by visiting famous landscape photographer’s gallery. It was then that I invested in my developing my photography skill with the intent to become a professional photographer.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest struggle has been juggling being a professional photographer and my primary job as I have not stopped working in my current occupation. I have to schedule shoots and personal projects on my days off or when I am on vacation from work.

I also would consider myself to primarily be a nature photographer which has been the bulk of my sales but often have been asked to events and portraits so I have been trying to diversify my portfolio and develop skill in other areas of photography. I believe my photography journey will be lifetime of learning and developing into a well-rounded photographer.

Please tell us about Jonathan Davison Photography.
I started my photography business in 2010 with a focus on landscapes, nature and architectural photography. I like to pride myself on capturing images that hopefully will inspire others to visit these wonderful places and if not live vicariously through my images.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over I would have been more patient finding the correct photography equipment and putting an emphasis on quality versus wasting money on inferior products that don’t last long.
