Meet Alexandria Reid of Cheat Day Cheesecakes in Denton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Reid.

Alexandria, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
You will never see me without a smile. I have been raised by my parents who ever since I was a toddler have told me I can do whatever I set my mind to. I would not be who I am today if it was not for them pushing me to follow through and providing me with unconditional the love and support.

My love of sugar can be contributed to the fact that my mother did not keep processed sugar so I had to teach myself how to bake, I was baking home alone in 4th grade and it has honestly just exploded since.

The very first cheesecake made was this past Valentine’s Day, simply for the fun of it and for dessert. A week had passed and I made the cheesecake again for a party at the house and one of the guests happened to mention that I could sell them. I kind of let that roll off my shoulder and the next night I walked down stair around midnight and made the announcement I will get a food truck to my parents and they simply replied with “okay, do your research”. So between February 19th and April 7th, I visited 4 trailer stores, made 8 or so flavors, spoke with the Denton Health Department, and finally passed inspection and opened!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It honestly has been going over incredibly well! No one is perfect so there will always be bumps so you have to find the solution, do it and keep going. That has been my motto through this entire ordeal. The biggest speed bumps I have had to deal with is my trailer itself having had a leak even though it was brand new and having to pass inspection the following morning. There has not been anything yet to knock me off my feet and discourage me. I am very much a planner and so in the very beginning I had a 30 step plan and checklist from the health department so there very much was a goal and objectives every week.

Cheat Day Cheesecakes – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I sell cheesecake and crème brulee all from mason jars out of my ruby red food trailer! I currently have ten flavors of cheesecake in rotations but actively have 8 flavors from sweet to sour to spicy. I think the biggest thing is that when you come to order you see me, the face of the company, the mind behind each flavor and not simply an employee in it for the money. I am the Cheesecake Queen, I am in it to show the world that cheesecake doesn’t have to be overwhelmingly sweet but instead a creamy delight made with real fruit rather than flavorings and extracts. Each week it takes about 3 hours of prep to juice and grate the lemons and limes along with crushing all the crusts and unwrapping 200plus bars of cream cheese! It is so easy to taste the love in each bite whether you try the newest flavor, Pina Colada cheesecake or feels adventurous and crack into some spicy crème brulee!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I simply am a 20-year-old business owner and I actually have a food truck. I am living my dream and being the best I can be. I don’t know what could be better.
